24 July 2015 : Byblis Liniflora Flowering uprate 2

 

Remember the post on my newly acquired Byblis Liniflora flowering? During flowering, I thought I would like to assist pollination using a spare paint brush. Flowers has withered and seeds pod swell were in process, some has produced seeds and I had harvest the first pod :)

30 Aug 2015  : Time lapse of a Nepenthes pitcher grow.... 

 

Ever since I gotten nepenthes a few months back and seen pitcher forming. I am very curious how they grow. I've decided to make a time lapse video project on one of the N. Rafflesiana. After a week or more. I've capture the footage of 1 and been working on the video. Well it's done now.

Absolutely stunning ! Thank you very much ! Could you tell me how you proceed with the light during nights ? Do you let the lights on in your terrarium when you make a timelapse movie ? Thanks !

Thanks! My lights are controlled by timer and I tap the camera's power supply to the same timer. Sometimes when I think there is much changes to take note. I manually let the lights on for 24hours.

I've noticed some nice pitchers developing in good colors. These plants are new in my care and they really brighten me up. Glad I've been poisoned into Neps ha!

 

Nepenthes Viking (Tish NP 13) From my friend has color very nicely. Here's the development.

Hi tish ,very nice  plants! what kind and what colour temperature of lamps do you use for your plants?

Thanks! I am using LED for now, 3watt per diode setup, warm and cool white, with 1 or 2 blue, not particular in the spectrum. just random buy over ebay and china website.

 The jumping spider (salticidae) hanging around the lid of the pitcher when I saw it. It's been in and out around the opening catching ants/gnats, like a buffet treat. The spider was careful and didn't fall. It has secure it's web on the peristome before going inside to do it's killing....
