SoLongFairWell
How the hell do I post photos from Flickr these days? I've completely forgotten even though I did it a few days ago. This question comes up a lot so it needs an FAQ.
SoLongFairWell
OK I finally figured it out. Here's what you do. Don't use the image function on here. Open the image in flickr. Click on the weird arrow symbol titled 'Share this photo' Select 'BB Code' Copy the link given. Paste that link into your post. Say the serenity prayer then click 'Post'
Maiden
Im a flickr user, this site Is very easy to use, and to post from. Bbcodes are very easy to use. Yahoo! Flickr have a tutorial to help. All my 1200 carnivorous plants pictures are on flickr (dals09). For me, Flickr is the best free photo sharing on internet. gardenofeden
One of the conditions of using Flickr is that you have a link back to the site as part of the share. You need to use BB code to do this as maiden said, not just the link.
SoLongFairWell
Maybe the little pin icon is the BB code then. I wish they'd just say so. Because they don't. EDIT: After checking their help section it turns out the pin icon IS the BB code. Yet when you hover over it nothing explains this fact. Carnivine
So glad I'm not the only one suffering. I have managed to post images on here from flickr before, but nowadays its a nightmare. How come we cant have a more straightforward way of adding images.
Martin Hingst
No problems here - I just let Flickr generate an URL in whatever picture size I like and insert this via the Image button
mobile
In Flickr: Click on the picture Click on 'Share this photo' (box with arrow pointing top right) in the righthand panel Click on drawing pin Copy the URL from the box below the pin and paste straight into a forum post... For example, from my Flickr account pasting this in a post: [url=https://flic.kr/p/mwGXDP][img]https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7270/13474621933_26245c5bc6.jpg[/img][/url] Will result in this... Martin Hingst
I think the first part of this URL is not needed Carl. I just put the URL from https... up to .jpg that I get by right click into the flickr image and "show" (in desired size - flickr gives you several size options) via the image button here. So the image will open here in the forum: Edited April 1, 2014 by Martin Hingst
mobile
Martin, Yes there are several ways of doing it. If the first part of the URL is kept then that hyperlinks to the Flickr page when clicking on the image, where more details can be seen. Martin Hingst
Thats a good way too Carl, esp. for keeping the traffic in the forum low, for those who are fine with the smaller version. BTW - really a great plant :-)
tish
There are serveral ways to post an image from Flickr. I would like to share my method which gives you the flexibility of choosing the image size manually. Step 1: Go to your flickr and choose a photo of your liking, click on it Step 2: Click on the ... which is the more action button. To bring up a set of actions Step 3; Click on Download/ All size, this will bring you to another set of options for downloading or checking the size of the image Step 4: Now click on All size which will bring you to another page with various sizes of the image. Step 5: click on your preferred image size, Large 1600 is my preferred size for forum picture post. Once you have selected your preferred size, right click ON THE IMAGE will bring up another set of options. Click on COPY IMAGE URL Step 6: Now the url is lock in your clipboard which is transparent to you. Dont worry about it. Go to the forum page where you are going to post your image. Click on the IMAGE icon and click on the empty space in the pop up box. Press "CTRL C" to paste the image or right click in the box and click "paste" in the set of options. Now your image should have been posted in the forum. Edited April 24, 2014 by tish

I've used Photobucket for years and i don't think i've ever had an issue with it.

tish
What I can say from the app to get to the bbcodes is.... From app, Click share, Copy link, Open browser app, Paste link in browser, You will see the photo in browser mode, Click share and copy bbcodes. Guest paul y
far too complex and long winded, is there any way this forum can have some sort of facebook link (its childs play to photo something with my tablet and upload to facebook) or just simplify the whole thing! a lot of people myself included don't have much pc experience or knowledge it would be great if it was as easy as using facebook.

Yes from the full website, but not the iPhone app. All you get is an arrow underneath the photo, with choices of post to Tumblr, Facebook etc. also a copy link option, which does not work for me. It's easier from facebook, but you need to use the desktop / pc version of facebook. Step 1: Go to the picture you want to post on face book Step 2: Right click your mouse on the picture Step 3: Copy the image url Step 4: Come to this forum you want the picture to be in. Step 5: type your own bb code with the url in eg : [img]paste url here[/img] or click the image insert option and paste the image url in Edited April 27, 2014 by tish
tish
Almost all the forums all over the world require the actual picture url with the image extension behind to be able to interpret and show in the post as a picture. the url must start with http or ftp or https and ends with .jpg or .png or .bmp or .gif and many more From flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5537/14027668031_cd8841d00a_b.jpg From facebook https://scontent-a-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t31.0-8/977903_746879768677016_6539203030900177437_o.jpg From photo bucket http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/tishfire/B01FA_zpsc0d3542f.jpg They all require the actual image url with the image extension, so you just need to grab the extension which ever way and method that suits you and come back to the forum and insert the image either via the image insert option or type in manually with the bb codes [img]http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/tishfire/B01FA_zpsc0d3542f.jpg[/img] Grabbing the image url always require you to go to the actual image page of your photo server, and it is always from pc/desktop mode. You hardly can get the url from integrated apps like flickr, facebook etc unless they specifically has an option to let you copy the actual image url with the image extension .jpg Edited April 27, 2014 by tish
Martin Hingst
Well Flickr have just updated the app again, now completely unusable from a phone. Bloody well done you complete imbeciles .... Too true Stephen. Flickr is (was?) a great project by a creative photography community - until Yahoo took it over. While I once thought, Microsoft was already the defined end of the intelligence spectrum, I was wrong - Yahoo holds the mastership there. What a pity - I hope flickr will remain at least usable for some time. I still like that page over any other hoster.

Ron
Is there a way to down load a picture from Lightroom to a forum post, I use both Lightroom and Elements to edit my pictures and cannot find a way to post direct into my post about me Cephalotus, I tried uploading it to Flickr but then the image link gave access to all my images on Flickr which is not what I want. Is there anyway I can download direct from my albums on my PC. Edited July 18, 2014 by Ron
