Marcel van den Broek
Hi, after a lot of trouble we managed to produce a set of 6 dvd's with the recodings of the 2010 ICPS conference in Leiden. All paricipants will get them send to their home when we are completely done and have produced enough of them (probably by the end of this year) as this was part of their registration. However, since it has taken us a long time I would like to ask any participants that have moved house since August 2010 to send their new postal address to penningmeester [at] carnivora.nl (no spaces). The Dvd's are only for those who attended the conference and NOT for sale, but we will upload material to You Tube after all participants have gotten their Dvd's. dionaea_2006
[...] The Dvd's are only for those who attended the conference and NOT for sale, but we will upload material to You Tube after all participants have gotten their Dvd's. Hi! Finally I received DVD (thank you!) but, I disagree with the choice to upload video on youtube. I know there was a lot of trouble to produce the set but, after 3 years waiting, is incorrect for everyone bought the DVD (included in the price of the conference) watch them at the same time on youtube: free for everyone weren't there or didn't want to pay for the offer. After so long time it could make a good impression if all proceeds of the conference were raised for the CPS Conservation (for example) or were invested in (why not!) a coupon/discount to everyone would have bought something from sponsors/sellers of the EEE. Instead, after 3 years, I received 6 DVD, longhand writing without any printed cd cover, and ready to share on youtube. I'm sorry, this is only my opinion also if I was happy to receive them after so long. Thank you too for your patience! Regards
Marcel van den Broek
Hi, Thank you for your opinion. Just to explain a little: It was always the intention to post the registration publicly after a couple of years as sort of a converence account. It is ICPS policy that video and/or printed registration becomes publicly available after a couple of years. On the ICPS homepage you can find a link that goes to available material from the confernces before 2010.http://www.carnivorousplants.org/news/Conferences.php The DVD's are indeed part of the conference packet for those that joint us at the conference but only a tiny amount of the conference fees where used. Actually only postage as most of the conference fees where used for accomadations etc. Production of the DvD's was funded through other means and even drew on general society funds of Carnivora as the only way to produce the DVD's turned out to be paying someone to put everything together. To avoid more extra costs we burned the material ourselves on private computers. ICPS conferences usually make very little profits if they do so at all. The 2010 ICPS conference made a small profit which was used shortly after the conference for conservation funding and exhibition materials for upcoming shows. The main reason why we chose to upload several of the video's at this time is as sort of a promotion for this years conference in Cairns, registration for which opened a week ago (when I get more info from Australia i'll post it on this forum of course).
