Christian
Hi, after the great day in North-Carolina our next stop was north alabama. To go there we had to drive about 540 Miles. With the slow 70mph maximum speed in US we planed a whole day for that. There is not much to say about that day. We arrived in north alabama in the early evening. We had a great guide for that area, who showed us some of the last remaining Sarracenia oreophila populations. The first one was in a small clearing, but a bit shaded. The second spot we saw that day was an open area. The plants looked much nicer there! #Amongst all the plants we could find one pubescent plant: in comparison the glabrous one: Close by is a small forest. There are alos plants growing there, but the vegetation is so dense, that they barely get light. Christian
We had some more time this day, so we decided to do some sightseeing in the close by Little River Canyon. Here are some random images of this nice place: Some vultures circled patiently above us the whole day. SoLongFairWell
Great photos. It's lovely to see oreophila in habitat. Does this species grow in slightly shaded areas?

Christian
Hi Richard, most of the plants we have seen have been partly shaded, but that's rather because of the bad condition of the habitat, i guess. I can't really tell you what it would be in "normal" conditions. Christian P.S.: could someone please correct the wrong word sarracenie in the title of this thread :)
