petesredtraps
I'm of the opinion that B52 has turned out to be a over-hyped disapointing plant, does anyone else share my view? I've had a few of these plants and they never do better than ordinary.
mattynatureboy44
My B52s are absolute Monsters! honestly they are huge I can post up some pics if you like? I suspect you may not have the real deal. There are a lot of fakes going round of the B52. B52's tend to be really chunky traps and open really wide B52 next to low giant and Dirk v Giant B52 is the large one at the front in middle. WP_20130709_035 by mattynatureboy44, on Flickr In the greenhouse see the small ceph for comparison it is a mature pitcher but only a small one which is also closer to the camera then the B52 you could probably fit 3 or 4 in the B52 trap. 19Silverman93
how does "Big mouth" rate as a comparison size wise? I've got one in the post already but I'm tossing up whether to make B52 my next flytrap after that, the size of those traps is just immense! Big mouth is a decent size and as big as most other giant clones it is also a good strong clone but size wise B52 beats it by a long way for me. If you do get a B52 just make sure you are getting the real deal from a reputable seller and not ebay as a lot of people sell typicals or other clones as B52's to bump the price up. FlytrapRanch
In my own experience, Big Mouth was a nice, large trapped plant, but its size was exceeded both by Low Giant (still my favorite large-trapped clone, but the original Low Giant, not the different clone that began distribution in Europe under the same name and then spread elsewhere, which I have also grown) and B52, which is not nearly as colorful as often as the other two, although its traps can be slightly larger in size than those of Low Giant. That said, there are certain years or long spans of months when B52 can look very ordinary, in cultural conditions that are not very favorable to any Venus Flytrap, if the pot is crowded with too many divisions and the rhizomes are having difficulty growing to full size, etc. Edited July 9, 2013 by FlytrapRanch

Low Giant is another one that has got very big for me in the past, but in overall trap size not just length but width and thickness B52 has been the largest and most robust for me. Dirk ventham's Giant is the closest size wise to the B52's this year. Edited July 9, 2013 by mattynatureboy44
TCurrell
this thread has just convinced me to get a B-52, i have a standard green VFT that is a pretty decent size for a non specific cultivar and all red forms and redlines which while pretty are nor very big so a B-52 would be nice for my collection. Any good places to buy from in the uk for reasonable prices?

Probably better getting one from a reputable member on here put a post in sales and wants and ask for pictures and ask about the origin or their plant and make sure it's from a well known member. Or even try Dimitar above if he has any.
