Using different pollen in order to get the flower to accept the pollen you want it to is a trick I heard about from a plant breeder, but I forgot what plants he was working with...  Maybe daylilies...  I think they can mix pollens of different ploidy levels to avoid the pollen they don't want to contribute to the offspring.  Seems like it is 'common knowledge' for some folks, while many others never heard of it.

Wow, NaN, this is awesome, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone producing seed in cultivation before.
