Winter planting of sarracenia divisions

I've just obtained a new sarracenia division and have planted it up as usual. I was wondering what's best to do this time of year, especially with the cold and snow we're currently enduring. Should I put the pot straight into the greenhouse or should I slowly acclimatise it to these cold conditions?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Martin

I have recently bought a new plant, although it was sent ready potted, and I have put it out in the greenhouse. I have assumed that it was probably out in one before I received it.

Martin, The division should be dormant so it shouldn't really matter.

In the past when i used to buy plants early in the year,i would just pot them up as normal, soak them through with water and just leave them in the greenhouse.

If you have spare room, put them in the middle of the bench or amongst other plants to offer a little more protection.Failing that try a shed or outhouse until it thaws, they dont need light yet.You could even put the pot in the compost bin for a while.

If the temperatures were more "normal" I would have just potted the plant and placed it in the greenhouse as usual. As it is I've done roughly as you suggest Ada. I gave it a good soak then let it drain overnight and put it in the greenhouse today - at least the temperature is just above freezing now!

Thanks for your help.
