StuartF
I've just taken my first faltering steps into TC with three flasks of sundews and one of sarracenia seeds and a fifth with nothing as a control to see what causes any contamination, but I was wondering, how long does it take to show? In such a nutrient rich environment I'm assuming its not very long.
FlytrapCare
Depends on many variables, but normally anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. Sometimes it may not show at all (or is very hard to see) until the first replate.

Thanks for that - I guess I should stop checking it every ten minutes then
TheInactiveMoth
Depends on many variables, but normally anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. Sometimes it may not show at all (or is very hard to see) until the first replate. I'd agree with that. In my experience, some samples were quite clearly contaminated in a matter of days (and you will notice ), others will take a while. Check daily, I suppose (though if that's a significant effort, every other/few days.)
dudo klasovity
The fastest contamination I have had was in 2 days. Fungal contamination is very fast. Bacterial contamination takes a bit longer to appear, sometimes weeks. I agree with the above-said fact that sometimes the contaminaton doesnt show for months and then can spread suddenly for no reason and destroy the jar contents in 3 days completely. Sometimes the contamination is hidden and thwarted by PPM and other chemicals and can expand after replating to different medium. It is advisory to check the jars on a daily basis for the first 5 days after production. Then it is okay to check every 3-7 days, but that depends on amounts of jars and free time, of course:-)
