Daniel G
http://www.kandco.com/ultimate-greenhouse-8/831896594.prd?browseToken=%2fq%2fgreenhouse That's the greenhouse I'm looking at. Not exactly the best quality, but it's the only way I'll get one I'm thinking, as I don't really have the money to buy one straight away. The problem is, this is UPVC glazed is that good or bad? Will it be any better than my current polythene greenhouse? Also, will the translucent top panels be a problem for Sarras? I've seen some great looking plants growing in polytunnels and greenhouses that look similar to that. Thanks, Daniel
gardenofeden
It does not look like a very sturdy greenhouse. I have put some of this type together for other people and not impressed by the quality. uPvc panels pop out easily in gusts of wind. For the same price you can get a "proper" greenhouse eg. http://www.greenhousepeople.co.uk/greenhouses/6ft-wide-greenhouses/halls_popular_6x8/ Edited November 11, 2012 by gardenofeden
gotcher
What puts the costs up buying a greenhouse is the glass . If I were you I would buy a very good quality frame only . Then I would beg the glass off window bashers they will give it to you for free . You would need to cut it then you would get better quality glass than what comes with greenhouses today . You will then need to buy the clips and seals on top . I got mine from buying the frame in long lengths and cutting and drilling this cuts the cost down further still . FredG
I'd definitely go with Stephens recommendation. I was surprised to see that price on the Hall's greenhouse.

gotcher
Spring last year I got rid of a 8' x 6' If I knew you were wanting one you could have had it for free providing you could get someone to transport it for you I only live the other side of Huddersfield . Your best bet would be your local paper some times people do give them away for free . I think you being still at school perhaps members on this forum could donate money to help you get one I for one would . I wish you all the best . Robert . Daniel G
Gutting, lol. I've been looking in the local paper a fair bit. As for asking for donations, I don't think I could do that....
Blocky71
Gotcher makes sense Dan, Ebay is usually brimming over with unwanted greenhouses, although dismantling and collecting is the norm so you may have to pull in a couple of favours, also you can set your preferences with price, location etc. My usual approach is "buy cheap, buy twice". Good luck mate
Blocky71
How far's hartlepool?, you could have your very own Eden project!, I love it!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/greenhouse-solardome-/281016963370?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item416dea912a

Good luck mate Dan is only fourteen so ebay will most likely be out . Buying on credit will also be out unless he gets adult to do the paperwork but at 34.9% interest he will be better waiting . Even more gutting-ness Preloved has nothing near me either Also, please don't assume that I've just started looking. I've been searching for almost 6 months now... gardenofeden
Can you not borrow the money from your parents and pay them back monthly?
Daniel G
I would if we had money. Already asked before.
Daniel G
Does anyone have an answer to the question of "Is it better than polythene" I have a choice of getting this, or maybe getting a new cover for the greenhouse is already have, which has a two foot hole in the side.
mantrid
If the polythene has worked well in the past then just use that or even just patch the hole. Then save up for a good quality robust greenhouse. This makes more sense than wasting £400 on something flimsy that you are going to replace anyway later on. Gaz
To answer the question I'd guess that the UPVC would be slightly better than polythene, but maybe only psychologically and as Stephen says a strong gust or two could soon have the panels out. Mantrid's suggestion seems sensible unless you're also going to gain space as well. I know you've been looking at second hand as well and I just spotted this on gumtree, posted an hour ago, it's in York so not too far away....http://www.gumtree.c...sale/1003030611, might be worth a look. Good luck! Edited November 12, 2012 by Gaz

Daniel G
Well, know I have a third of a greenhouse gone. Gonna have to buy those one, and save up for a decent one whilst paying for this
