Hi Vince,

thanks, the first two years i grew it in my highland terrarium under a dropping nozzle and now it's in a tray next to my terrarium under T5 tubes! I don't grow it much different to my other tuberous Drosera - I may water it a bit more from above and keep it in lower pots...

The substrate is a quite sandy mix... there is not more than 50% peat (rather lower amount) and the rest is fine and coarse (~2-3mm) sand, but just fine sand seems to work as well!

Cheers

Marc

Here some updates of some Nepenthes pitchers...

Nepenthes macrophylla, which made slightly smaller pitchers after changing the lights to LED...

Nepenthes hurreliana made an upper pitcher, which I missed...

...the new one seems to be more intermediate again!12071929906_499e45834e_o.jpg

Nepenthes ceciliae is also growing very well under my conditions which are quite cold at the moment (for 4-5 month below 20°C).

I've always admired your tank Marc. Love your macro and hurrelliana. Thanks for sharing. I am just experimenting with some LED in my tank as well and the results look promising. Although it cost an arm and a leg to get it to the optimum level of light.

Big thanks to both of you! The panel in your link looks good. Mine has UV (380-400nm) and warm white (2800K) leds, which your panel is lacking, but yours has two additional (410nm & 500nm) wavelength. I would trust my panel more than yours, because it's covering more "unknown" wavelength and in adding pure green LED (500nm) I don't see much sense, except turning the overall reddish light into a more comfortable one for our eyes...

Also the ratio of the different wavelength is important! I just heard from the results with the LED strips where better results were achieved when using IR and UV spectra compared to the same strip without...

That's all I can say - at the end you have to try out otherwise you will never now, because most of the experiences are just beeing carried out at the moment.

For my panel I have the feeling that its very good for Nepenthes species from Sumatra but the ones from Borneo don't like it as much as the others...

... but this impression might change!

Cheers

Marc

Marc,

I think you're right about the UV, since most of our plants don't experience any real sun light (my plants are also located in our basement, as dictated by my girlfriend...). but I have yet to find LED panels with UV-diodes and with an interesting wavelength distribution.
