SoLongFairWell
Is the N. Bloody Mary a highlander? Have been tempted to get one for a while.
Simon797
I think it is a lowlander but mine is growing in highland conditions together with my heliamphora. EDIT: Today its so hot that almost all of my sundews are dewless so hopefully the weather cools down tomorrow, and then I will make some more pictures. SoLongFairWell
How long have you been growing it as a highlander? I'd have it in the living room window with my other highland Neps you see. Edited July 23, 2012 by Richard Bunn

SoLongFairWell
I find it laughable though that it's illegal to propagate them. I came across this stipulation with a variety of Petunia last year. What a monopolising joke.
Simon797
Yes I also find it laughable because it is a simple hybrid between N. ventricosa and N. ampullaria and many people reading this are going to think "But they did a lot of experimenting and they may have spend a lot of money making a Nepenthes that is attractive to collectors and people that just buy them at the local gardening center because they are beautiful and they want to have a special plant that eats bugs" And yes that is true but my plant is making a offshoot so I an technically violating the law. SoLongFairWell
It's like making S. Adrian Slack or Eden Black or B52 illegal to propagate. You don't have every other person out there who makes hybrids filing patents against them. Imagine if that was N. Ventrata.
Simon797
Imagine if that was N. Ventrata. Oooh, then I would be in serious trouble But if you make a cross between the two parent plants and it results in a plant very similar looking plant but it is genetically different so technically you can reproduce that hybrid you made but it results in the same plants. ( Sorry if it doesn't make sense but my primary language ins't English )
SoLongFairWell
It annoys the hell out of me when people think they can control hobbyists like that. Propagation is just an important part of the hobby as growing.
Simon797
Propagation is just an important part of the hobby as growing. Yes it is and it is just because it's a nice, new and easy plant to grow everybody wants it and there are only two producer: Borneo exotics and what has now become Araflora ,so all the money is going into their pockets.
