This is probably a silly question with an obvious answer but i thought i'd ask anyway :)

Why do i see some VFT's growing in an upright position and then some sort of slouch over the side of the pot their in? Are they different VFT's?

Hi Marcia,

It is always a question of genetics. I prefer the more vertical forms, but you do see in garden centres more of the rosetted types as they are selected for easier stacking on Danish trollies.. They are all the same species, just different growing habits.

What garden centre did you get it from Marcia?

We found a load in the wyevale garden centre at the retail park and unfortunately had to take away a very large Sarracenia hybrid, others there were dried out completely.

They have some nice Nepenthes there too.

I got mine from Homebase. The traps are a nice deep red colour but not vertical.

I don't have the variety that the above hobbyists can illustrate, but all things being equal (environment), some cultivars grow more uprightly than others:

There's a combination of 'nature' & 'nurture' going on.
