Trev
My best from an awful summer. Guillaume, you must have something to beat these two pathetic entries? B52 X SHORT TEETH Edited March 11, 2013 by Trev
Trev
Well, 2 entries and one of them was mine Is there any interest in this competition continuing this year? Trev
Blocky71
I can't believe it had such a piss poor response? I never saw the post till it was already over last season. Maybe it just needs more of a mention, personally I think it's a great competition with potentially a very nice addition to the winners collection courtesy of your generosity Trev. Please go ahead with a 2013 competition , nice one !
guillaume
It could be great to have it again but I don't know why people don't play the game. I have don't try last year because my 2 bigest clones produce again more than 5 cm traps, and I don't grow B52... But I will play this year, just for the fun. cookie0117
I would not have won last year but my biggest plant is going to be much bigger this year!! Its had a nice rest over the winter but is now back to life
prized
Apparently none had a Dionaea with traps bigger than 4,3cm :)
gardenofeden
Mine don't get very big here in the cold north so I can never compete with those monsters...
mantrid
The problem I think is once a big trap is posted people will only submit theirs if it is bigger. I think nobody could beat the last entry so didnt see the point of entering. Maybe if you have a big trap then dont post it until later in the comp so the rest of us think we have a chance. Ill never win as my plants are outside in the summer so dont grow big traps and last sumer was particularly bad.
Blocky71
Bang on Mantrid, I thought exact same thing. What we obviously need here is a 1st , 2nd and 3rd place......... I'm not suggesting Trev should offer 3 plants. Any suggestions for a 2nd and 3rd place prize?
mantrid
Possiby a rareish plant for first prize and more common ones for 2nd and 3rd
Trev
Glad to see there's still some interest in continuing the competition. I'd happily donate the 3 plants for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes, it's the 3 lots of postage that puts me off LOL. Maybe someone else would like to donate a 2nd or 3rd prize? Climate's not the only factor in growing large traps, if it was all the winners would be from the southern European countries, a good summer helps of course. From my own experience I've noticed plants that have not been allowed to flower in previous years produce bigger traps and also plants in bigger pots.
mantrid
If they are grown in a green house then I agree. If they are kept outside the growing season is considerably shorter which I think has a big effect. However, I like the superior colour I tend to get from most types outdoors

linuxman
So we'll all need a 'Gremlin' or 'Ginormous' for this year then (CPN March 2013)

ThomasL
a Idea for a price is a spare of guilaume big clones. I never grow a plant with 5cm traps. Just a idea.
prized
I think that it would be more fun if pictures can be sent privately, and showed to the forum only when approaching to the end :)
guillaume
Yes I can give a spare from my big clone, I am ok! And I think it could be great to send all the pictures to Trev and he will show them only at the end like Yuri said.
ThomasL
Great Guillaume Trev can post a small report and can tell how many pictures he arrived to make the contest attractive.
ThomasL
Another idea is everybody make two pictures of his favourite trap. One picter with clear plastic ruler to send trev and on picture without ruler to post it. So everybody can see some traps. Just a idea.
