Guest Davejj
Hi folks, just wondering how S. flava and S. oreophila will grow in mostly low light conditions; I live in a bedsit with brick wall about 2 feet away from my window (sounds fun, but hey the rents cheep, lol). my window sill gets about 2-3 hours of direct sun a day, between about 10 and 1 as it is south-facing. Will my plants be healthy in this low light, and can anyone recommend a species that thrives in a little direct sun? Cheers all.
Guest Aidan
Sarracenia originate from areas which experience fierce levels of sunshine and are I regret are unlikely to grow well on your windowsill in the long term.
Guest Davejj
Thanks for the advice Aidan; Sarracenia aside, how about other cp's?
Guest Aidan
A fair variety I think. Cephalotus would be OK as would some Utricularia and Nepenthes Other members will have to recommend which ones as currently I grow only one Utric and one Nep! ...and of course, some of the Drosera. olly_k
I always thought Cephalotus required loads of light?!?
Guest Aidan
Cephalotus can be grown in shade or sun....depends whether you want a green or red coloured plant.
Mike King
You could try Sarracenia rubra subspiecies and purpurea, because they are often shaded by scrub and taller vegetation may succeed if you get some sun
