Sockhom
Hello, It's been a while since I have posted anything on this board. Last March, more than 6 months ago now, I had to rearrange my two Heliamphora tanks as several plants were becoming quite large... My biggest plant is still my H. folliculata from Murosipan Tepui which begins to look like wild plants. The flowers of this species are huge! Heliamphora heterodoxa, Gran Sabana: Heliamphora exappendiculata, Amuri tepui: Heliamphora folliculata, Murosipan tepui (again!): Heliamphora sarracenioides and H. sp. Akopan (I broke the upper pitcher art while I was doing a bit of trimming... . The terrarium was neat and tidy. In my conditions, Heliamphora get typically orange red after wintertime. They are greenish after summer. This is how my plants look now after summer. The plants are greener as expected. I'm quite pleased because summer is supposed to be a not so good time for this genus in my conditions. I changed a few things and plants did grow at a good pace. I had to remove 3 or 4 plants because they became too large in the space of 6 months. Now winter is coming - the best time for my plants- and I can't wait to see them getting red and bigger. Here are some recent pictures: A recent acquisition: Heliamphora neblinae var. parva. Heliamphora minor 'Burgundy black'. Heliamphora sarracenioides. Heliamphora glabra. And Heliamphora sp. Akopan again which grew quite quickly. This undescribed taxon has become one of my very favourites. It could be called "Heliamphora campanulata", I reckon ;-) Cheers, François. dchasselblad74
Hey Francois, now that I snapped out of my trance, staring at your Beautiful Heliamphora collection, why do they turn red in winter as opposed to green in the summer? Is it the temp? Is it the light duration? DexFC

Akopan, it's about the same size with 3 basal shoots, it broke exactly like that. For me it's one of the easiest and nicest species, deffnitily one of my favourites. Sockhom
Er... This is really embarassing. I sincerely didn't expect so much praise. Thanks a lot to all of you. My main inspiration has been Matthias Teichert and Markus Welge's fantastic plants and setups. Hats off to them. Cheers, François. PS: I use fluorescent lights, similar to T5. The plants get fertilized from time to time (orchid or seaweed, foliar spraying).
