Guest drosera12
Is it possible to do Sarracenia leaf cuttings. I want to try with a Sarr dana's delight and judith hindle. I heard it is possible with purpurea and psittacina. If you have done cuttings with any sarr and had success, please comment on your technique and species/hybrid. Thanks
linuxman
I've never seen any advice in the books on leaf cuttings, although I've read it's supposed to be possible. I pulled a leaf off one of my flavas a while back, shortened it and stuck it in the same pot. Not seen any growth yet so can't say it's going to work, but it's still green! I'm also doing a rhizome notching experiment which has worked and I intend to post the results some time in the future. Cheers,
gardenofeden
yes it is possible, especially if you get a fragment of rhizome pulled off with the leaf, I have done this with S.alata. Some claim that S.psittacina will root and sprout without any rhizome fragment, never tried it myself. There are quite a few topics on this forum about it. dchasselblad74
Ive tried this with a few Sarrs and Darlingtonia but they all turned brown...But I know whAt I did wrong, I placed them in mostly sunny location next to my outdoor bogs...Next time Ill try in a more subdued light...
