Guest spongi
Just entered this great site lately and visited some of your interesting posts. Like many, I hope you write and publish them again here! I'd like to tissue-culture some rare local plants and don't know anything about tissue culture. Can you guide me there? (tell me I'm a dreamer but........I'm waiting with rapt attention for your posts. Thank you in advance!
CP2k
What rare local plants are you refering to? The medium for TC differs depending on the plant. If you do not know anything about TC, then I would recommend that you type keywords such as "plant tissue culture" on a search engine. There is quite a bit of information, if you are willing to do a search.

Guest spongi
Hello everybody Thank you for your replies! I was referring to plants such as Ophrys apifera, sphegodes, insectifera etc., Aceras anthropophorum, Cypripedium calceolus... (I don't know the names in English (nor the Latin ones). Those would not be the plants to start TC with. I'd rather start with Hypochoeris radicata or Pinguicula x weser. I was afraid that different plants need a different medium but thought I might use a medium for other orchids or for carnivorous plants and vary a little bit. Thank you for the good link, kribuk. I will read there soon! I found a link with some interesting sub-links on: http://www.carnivoren.org/cgi-bin/forum/Ya...87347;start=6#6 Tissue culture or normal growing, that remains a question, of course. I just dreamed about multiplying some rare plants in a environmentalfriendly way. Hope the dream still remains when I wake up :? Is someone doing TC-culture and would let me have a look to learn 8) ? Does anybody know where I can purchase anti-funghi and desinfectant materials and eventually hormons (in my gym they just sell it for bodies, not for plants in small quantities? Thank you again very much for the posts you made! Happy growing ! (tc or conventional )

swords
Just be careful you don't get caught poaching plants for your TC program! Get the correct permits from the Wildlife Department if you're gonna be TCing local flora. If you have any thoughts on selling them after you TC them and anyone "important" finds out what you're doing (like the folks over at Kew RBG, or the folks at CITES) you will be contacted by your local Wildlife Dept to find out where you got the original plant material. If you tell em from the wild... (play the dramatic movie music here)! All Cypripedium species worldwide are protected by CITES and those Cyps growing wild in England (if that's where you are) are said to be extremely few in number, I've seen estimates as low as one mature plant for some UK locations.
