Place where garden centre plants come from

Yesterdag there was an open day at Carniflora, this is one of the big European commercial growers and this is also the place most garden centre get their plants from.

They don't really grow special plants, only very much plants.

Also a thing to notice, they grow almost all kinds of carnivorous plants in the same greenhouse without cimate control sections.

The place is 100 meters long and 75 meters wide, so that's one big greenhouse :thanks:

Awesome place!

CPs as far as the eye can see... :thanks:

I think if I find +-50 CPs in a nursery in SA I consider myself lucky.

Did you go home with a trolley full of goodies?

I bought some plants, but not that many, only two Sarracenias and 3 Dionaeas.

That was very restrained shopping :laugh2:

 They only accepted cash, so no worries for your credit card.

But I would have bought more if I wouln't go to Mike King next month.

this is where my garden centre but vthere plants from..

something like £0.98 a dionaea.. they then sell them for £4.99

Actually, your Garden Centre buys their C.P.s from an intermediate company like 'Smallys' (who buy them for £1.20 each) then sell them for £2.50 to your G.C. Who in turn then selld them for £4.99

Regards

Langy

They need to make a profit you know and believe me when it comes to VFT's you make horrific losses as every one that passes them has to show who ever they are with how they work, so imagine how many times they are triggered a week and you soon start losing them (and in the GC that i worked in we kept them in the sun and gave them rainwater unlike most).

Thanks for sharing this, and great photos, if i had worked in a place like this instead of the little nursey i worked in twenty years ago i would have slept there every night, and woke up to all the CP's, thats heaven!
