Hello Friends,

Happy Spring to All!

We hope your collections are beginning to wake up and thrive as we bolster headlong into this new year.

Since 1972, the ICPS has been an integral part of carnivorous plant conservation, education and research. One of our most exciting goals for 2010 is to expand conservational and educational efforts on more of an international level, thus truly filling the shoes of an International Society.

Therefore, we'd love to hear about legitimate and provable conservational efforts that may be planned or occurring within international CP Societies and Organizations as well. We truly believe that by forming more of a worldwide "grid" of CP enthusiasts, conservationists and aficionados, we come just that much closer to bringing conservation and education from conscious thought...to a visible reality, even in these tough times!

Feel free to contact me directly with any legitimate international efforts or projects that you may know of for ICPS Board review at;

[email protected]

The ICPS always has open ears to hear!

Happy Growing,

Brian Barnes,

ICPS Director of Conservation.

President/The Florida Carnivorous Plant Society.

Brian,

Really pleased to here this news - Thanks.

You must have read my mind - only 2 or 3 days ago, I was wondering what the ICPS actually does Internationally. All the conservation efforts listed on the web site are USA based - except the clipeata survival project ( and I think the least said about that the better).

So, as a non-USA ICPS member, I do look forward to hearing about work taking place Internationally in the future - good luck.

I'm unsure if there's an international effort yet, but conservation of Roridula dentata fynbos habitat against Rooibos tea plantations would seem a very worthwhile cause.

As a Floral Kingdom, you'd be conserving a lot of endemic species besides Roridula, which is a lot of bang for your buck! :rolleyes:
