dudo klasovity
Hi! My favourite Heli grew a nice pitcher so I took picture. How long does it take for this species to build a woody stem?

loligo1964
Very nice . . . I have yet to see the "wooden stem" phase of H. tatei exhibited in cultivation -- only in the field, as an adaptation to being overgrown by brush. Perhaps it's a feature only of advanced age . . . flycatchers
Hi I got my one in 2004. It started to produce a "stem" a couple of years back. The new pitchers are now emerging from this stem, as well as smaller basal growth. Nice plant of yours.. :) bill Edited April 3, 2010 by flycatchers
Jose R
Nice plant you've got there. I have had my seed grown H. tatei plants for over 12 years and only one of the five are showing any sign of a stem and then not much of a stem. I think they may only produce a stem when competing with other taller plants for sunlight. In the glass house or under lights in a terrarium they probably don't feel the need to produce one.
