amaury
Here are some pics of a young Dionaea a bit special. Most of her teeth are merged by two and are of different sizes. With the time, the traps and the rib of the stem are getting red. Continued ... :)
Alexis
Interesting trait.
FlytrapCare
Yes, cool looking plant. Is that a 'Microdent' that I see in the background?
petesredtraps
That looks great. Hopefully the plant will continue to show this distintion, and of course should cuttings/divisions continue the trait you will have to give the plant a name. The two in one teeth remind me of an onion fork-VFT "Onion Fork" we have "Noodle ladle " aka "Louchapates" so why not .
amaury
Yes, it's 'Microdent' on the right. I think that the plant will keep this distinction but let's see in some weeks For the name, I thought to 'Abyss' (in reference to the lantern fish) or 'Hallucigenia' or 'Hallucigene' (reference to the small animal of the Burgess Shale). http://www.pc.gc.ca/~/media/pn-np/bc/yoho/e-f/edu09-2.ashx Keep you in touch! amaury
Two pics (of bad quality) of the last trap! The merged teeth are more and more strange.
carnivoor
Two pics (of bad quality) of the last trap! The merged teeth are more and more strange. The teeth look almost like broken glass, maybe you should call it "Shards"
Trev
That's a nice looking VFT Amery, what were the parents? I had a dentate X big mouth seedling that was similar but had shorter teeth, it sadly died over winter a few years ago. Trev

amaury
Hi Trev, I just know the mother plant which is "Fine Tooth x Red". Guillaume was speaking about the food for fish that I use to feed my traps
Trev
That's interesting - you think it helps? What type of fish food is it? Trev.
amaury
That's interesting - you think it helps? What type of fish food is it?Trev. I use food for goldfish! It looks like this : http://www.lapagedupoissonrouge.net/assets/images/flakes.jpg It contains nitrogen (proteins) and is easy to prepare. You put some food with water to obtain a "paste"(dough?). You will quicker notice the "boost effect"!

amaury
And how do you make the trap stay closed? Do you massage the sides of the trap until it seals? 5 minutes after the closing of the trap, I clamp with my fingers the trap (just one time) to activate the digesting process. amaury
This vft is very strange. I noticed today that there is an unusually high number of sensory hairs on the traps. Genetically, it's interesting. Maybe, it could be a polyploid vft. I counted more than 12 sensory hairs on this trap :
