jimscott
I want to divide and repot my minibucket plants. I want to do this when they are dormant, either before I tote them to my co-worker's garage, in November, or in April, when I bring them back. They're getting a little congested. Which is better - November or April?
Loakesy
I think most people split theirs in December-March, Jim. I usually do mine in about January.
Alexis
During dormancy is best. I'd leave it til Dec.
andyoliver
Same here. I leave it until Dec time.
jimscott
I guess it really doesn't matter, so long as they are asleep.
Tommyr
I do mine just before waking them up in mid-late February. In about another month it'll be time to put them to bed for the winter. I take them all out of their pots, dunk the roots in rainwater to clean them off, baggie them, hit each with a little fungicide and pop them in the fridge. They all get fresh soil mix in late winter/early spring.
austonH
I do mine in early-mid Febuary.

alexa
I suppose it depands pn how many you have. I will have to start some time in December but I know some who have to start even earlier as they have som many. As above the general rule seems to be when they are dormant, so as long as that is the case, it's pretty much up to you. Regards Alex. Wouter Noordeloos
Hi, I agree. I also start at late November/early December depence how many plants I have to devide and re-pot. But there is another thing; If there is a lot of work to be done with the plants, try to get some help from members of your society? If there is a lot of work to be done at my greenhouse and some other boardmembers have to devide and re-pot a awfull lot of plants. So we make a agreement to help eachother. If you have to do the work all alone you are busy for weeks. Besides if we work with a group of nice fellow-members than we are finished at the end of December or in January and then we can spend our time to orginise all the events coming the next season, like we are orginising the ICPS-conference at Leiden, Holland August 2010. While we are working with the plants we can already select some plants for the Exhibition for the ICPS-conference at Leiden, August 2010. If you are with 4 to 6 people you can spend 1 day in the greenhouse deviding and re-potting plants you can really do a lot of plants!! You can talk and learn from eachother. And the next week you go to the next member to clean up his bog and devide and re-plant his plants. Take care, Wouter Noordeloos
