Binataboy
I learn't a valuble lesson (again) today. I try to make a point of taking my compact camera when ever I head out looking at plants, but today I was waiting for a harddrive to format so had a few hours to kill so went to see an area I know well (Dwellingup) to check a D. stolonifera population. Its about a 1 hour drive there so good way to lose 3 hours, as I already have lots of pics from this site and was organising other erands I didn't grab my camera. A nice scenic drive to the location started with a, hang on what are those on the side of the road, a stunning mass population nice bronze, pink flowered, D. macrantha. I bit further along I checked some bush and there were 5" D. erythrorhiza scatered through the undergrowth, some were getting a red flush where they were getting some sun, absolutely awesome! Then I stopped at a granite outcrop, masses of blood red D. rosulata, D. macrantha that were red in the sun and D. palida. Anther side of the road and there were D erythrorhiza ssp. squamosa. Driving along I spotted a swampy area I had not stopped at before, D. stolonifera, D. pulchella, D erythrorhiza ssp. squamosa and 1 D. erythrorhiza ssp. magna (small but weak midrib 4 wide leaves) and a number of plants somewhere inbetween. I didn't go on to the D. stolonifera site as I had spent a lot of time looking around already so headed back. Another roadside stop revealed a large number of D. stolonifera still emerging for this seasons. On the way back stopped at the first site to look at the D. macrantha as there is a convenient pull-in. Upon getting out of the car I noticed I was parked on a mass of Pygmy Drosera!! So I saw 2 very nice forms of D. macrantha Some of the best D. erythrorhiza I have seen D erythrorhiza ssp. squamosa D. erythrorhiza ssp. magna !! D. rosulata D. palida D. stolonifera D. pulchella Random pygmy In 4 hours all this and no camera... Sadly George
jimscott
LOL! It's a Zen thing! If a something photogenic appears and there's no way to photograph it, is there really something photogenic?
