Simon Lumb
I've not been having a great growing season so far this year with very little worth photographing, but here are few pitchers that made the cut taken yesterday N.platychilla, sorry I couldnt get a full frontal because of the climbing wires N.rigidifolia N.x Trusmadiensis, this getting quite a size but without any signs of the typical distortions seen in this hybrid. But talking of distortions...... Ugly Betty N.lowii x truncata, with a N.jamban as company Edited July 25, 2009 by Simon Lumb
D_muscipula
Lowii x truncata is my favorite hybrid. That's a nice clone you have, colorwise.
osmosis
Superb Simon, I love the rigidifolia. Looks like a nice rajah bud developing there as well Nice healthy jamban, too. Things can't be that bad when you've got plants like that. What happened with the lowii x truncata - did it push up against something? I have yet to manage a perfect lowii upper yet - they do seem to have tendency to distort Dave
vraev
Spectacular plants as always Simon. WOW!! Just a question for you: That black knobs on the tendril of the amazing lowii x truncata......are those nectar glands??/ Edited July 27, 2009 by vraev
SamInLondon
Very nice plants, Simon. I would be over the moon with results like those! I especially like the N. rigidifolia - wonder why we don't see more in cultivation. How easy is it?
Dicon
Yeah, the rigidifolia is a handsome thing, and still at the top of my wants list! Nice show.
Simon Lumb
Thanks for comments, Dave, things are picking up now, but all the pitchers are much smaller than last year. Yes that is a rajah bud developing. I've just printed off Matts (Dicon) photo and shown it to my plant and told it that this it what we are up against. Last year we would have taken it but I'm not sure this year, I threatened the plant with eviction from the greenhouse if doesnt pull his weight...I'll keep you posted on the development of that pitcher. Vraev yes the black spots are nectar glands. The pitcher inflated pressed against its own tendril which gave it the horrible distortion, I repositioned the tendril for the photo, like all the others this is much smaller than last years (below) S
vraev
wow!! I remember seeing that pic of yours and having to look around to find the dropped jaw on my floor without being able to look away from the screen. ;) thanks for verifying Simon. Hot Damn!!! I know that "phrase" is used for other circumstances, but man!! I love this hybrid. Unfortunately its not in TC....so I guess I got to wait my turn.
