carnivoor
Last year was the first year I had sarrs (or other cp's) but I found this year my plants get visited by hoverflies a lot. I now see a lone wasp (BTW they walk in and out my purpurea like they own it) , sometimes a couple of flies (they just use the lids of the purpurea to keep out of the wind) but hoverflies are around them all the time. I have planted an onion(the normal kind) in a pot near the sarr ,so I expect that may have something to do with it(it's flowering) but still. Alexis
Seems a bit quiet on the insect front this year. August / September is usually the peak, but I wonder if two horrendous summers have knocked numbers back?

August / September is usually the peak, but I wonder if two horrendous summers have knocked numbers back? I noticed last year that the flies don't come in greater numbers until the pitchers are almost full (maybe they smell better to the flies when they have more dead insects?) My leuco has a pitcher that is almost full to the top already.
danthecpman
Seems a bit quiet on the insect front this year. Well its a completely different story here my sarras cant produce pitchers fast enough to keep up with them lol. Dan
jimfoxy
I'm not at all sure but I think things are a bit late this year here. Maybe the cold Winter and dry early Summer here have something to do with it. Only just started noticing appreciable wasp numbers about a week or so ago. The holes in the pitchers started then!
