Pete Bog
Been watching with interest an auction on Ebay 350224218701 for a Yellow Flava, it fetched over £84 Is that a record? What's the most you would pay for a CP that you really wanted? Bob
Loakesy
We had a purpurea on this forum that went for much more than that recently! About £160 if memory serves!
jimfoxy
I can't remember what it was but I'm sure that there was a Sarra that went for more than £250 recently. If you gotta have it, I guess you gotta have it!!
andyoliver
Yeah about £250 I think it went for. I'veheard of a plant going for £400 before now. I'm not sure what I'd pay for a plant, depends on then plant and how much I wanted it.
Loakesy
This is what I was thinking about, but my memory was £100 off target! http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30957
Derek
If you guys think our plants are expensive, then try the orchid world. Especially if there's a new species of paph available. Prices here are much closer to £1000, and I've seen rare divisions of paph being sold for four figures. And no, I wouldn't\couldn't spend that kind of money. Still, who are we to tell someone how to spend their cash? I personally believe that spending the kind of money on a car that you would use as a deposit for a house is really insane. Yet those same people I'm sure would think the same of me if they saw the bill for my nep house! cheers, Derek.
jimfoxy
A car just rusts eventually. It is a complete money loss except for the few years it might be helping you get money some other way. Whereas a plant, well, what a lovely little bundle of money earning potential that keeps growing and reproducing. Not sure where children fit into this comparison! Alexis
I'd be too terrified of killing any plant over £20. That's the most I will ever pay for a plant.
gotcher
Have you seen the small plant on ebay now wanting £22.00 for postage is this a record .
Bauer
I'd be terrified too Alexis
Alexis
Can't believe somebody paid £27.50 (£18+£9.50 P&P) for a bog standard purpurea. The photo isn't even accurate - it's some sort of generic purpurea hybrid shot.
gardenofeden
there are lots of mis-labelled plants for sale on eBay. I used to point them out to the sellers but they don't care as "that's what their supplier told them they were"
snowwy
I would pay about 30€ for a one plant i think :o I saw one orchid in ebay (US) today, the final price was almost $2000! http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff208/s...y-/nimetnad.png Edited July 19, 2009 by snowwy
