carnivoor
When looking for water for my plants during dry periods , I only ever come across demineralized water. When reading the label on the container , it said ; do not drink. Another kind said it could be used to spray plants, nothing about watering your plants with it. I have to assume that they used chemicals to get the minerals out but I'm not sure. So can anyone tell me if this water is safe for my plants or should I go on searching for distilled water? mobile
As the name suggests, deminerization refers to the removal of minerals from the water. It is these minerals that CPs object to. It is a general term for the removal of minerals and several different processes can be used to achieve it; however, the most common process is ion exchange. See here for further details: http://www.lenntech.com/Water-glossary.htm#Dealkalinisation It is generally not recommended that deminerized water is used for drinking. See here for further details: http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health...mineralized/en/ You are unlikely to find distilled water as it has largely been replaced with deionised water which is cheaper and easier to produce. I use deionised water for watering some of my CPs.
