Darlingtonia seedlings damping off

ive read up on these and most info says that they can take or like a bit of water sprinkled from above on top of them but ive noticed some of the seedlings (only just spouted) are damping off. is this perhaps due to being watered from above and not watered in the way you would a vft ect?

In nature the plant is most often associated with seeps and streams. In cultivation it is often recommended to water Darlingtonia from above as this creates a flow of water through the compost. The root system of this plant is quite sensitive to excessive heat and watering from above may help with cooling.

Damping-off is caused by a fungal infection and should be treated with a fungicide.

Hi Jez_Z3

I've noticed that sometimes after I watered young Darlingtonia seedlings from above - that the next day almost all are dead! AARRGGHH!!!! It has happened more than once.

Now, I only water overhead when they are an inch or longer - and I water near the rim of the pot, not near the plants.

i dont keep my plants in a propergator or covered. well atleast not these ones.they are indoors by my brightest south window.one thing i have noticed is the rain water in the waterbutt has got a slight smell to it so im wondering if this might give them a high dose of fungus ect ans cause the damping off.

what do you all think????
