I did it - and I do not regret!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I remember a thread of Heather about her freezing PC, where I gave the advice to solve the main problem - and buy a Mac.

In between I had so much trouble with my own computer, so much wasted time in unnecessary dialog boxes, setting menues, and of course totally computer blackouts, that I finally bought a new computer - a Mac of course (MacBook).

The first and important test was now, how long does it take to get an internet connection, how many help boxes and manual pages I had to read, and whatever these PCs bring as add. surprises.

The answer is -

I did not need the manual (do not even know if there is a manual, the cardbox still freshly opened in front of me, it all went sooo fast!)

no "do you really want to? Really?? Really really??? dialogs (btw - why are these called dialog boxes at all, not system caused monologue boxes??)

and all so simple and fast - thats how it should be!

Now I will play a bit around with my new toy - and find out what it can do else for me.

Happy regards

Martin

Your problem is not with the PC, its the os, Windows lol.

Looks whats inside your MacBook

Intel Core 2 Duo

SATA hdd

nvidia graphics card

Very nice choice though. If I had the cash I certainly would get one.

Yes, Microsoft must have marketing geniuses. How they manage to get lots of people to blame PCs instead of dissing the word 'Microsoft' is very good. Their decisions in the development of their OS user interface over recent years to handicap their customers amazes me. Maybe I am getting old...

Yes, well done for developing DOS; that was pretty useful. Now give up and go home.

Well done for buying a Mac!

Congratulations. My business has depended upon Apple products for some years; and, as a result, we have no need for any costly IT department every time yet another virus or another Microsoft compatibility cluster**** issue rears its head . . .

It's true. You won't look back . . .

Yes, of course it is not fair to blame PCs for this nasty system that comes with them - but this was only my very first test.

But it is not only the operation system that is so much better - the graphics, the sound, just everything seems to come from a different planet!

I still haven't had a look into the manual - it all works so intuitively :JC_cupidgirl: things are to be found where you expect them to be - the first try, and I am there...

OK, the price is from another planet as well ... but for sure worth every penny.

Now I have to have some last lucky strikes with my old PC - to save the old data to my Mac (I have only few minutes from one hang-up to the next - and that is no exaggeration!!)

And then - I am sure you are right - I will never look back

still enthusiastic -

Martin

Well its mostly not the PCs fault though most PCs sold with Microsoft already there often arent the height of technology unless you fork out a bit.. Plus OSX was built to be perfectly compatible and in tune with apple computers so they have the advantage there, making it easier to iron out all glitches while Microsoft have to fumble about with soo many different makes and models of computer that it has to run smoothly on... Microsoft does run better on apple computers so there is something to do with the computers...

That being said, I am sure there will be some problems with OSX if people start putting it onto non apple computers...

Had a go on Windows 7 the other day. First thing I did was delve into the files in Win32. Guess what, the old blocky icons from Windows 95 are STILL there.

They're between a rock and a hard place. The need to start from scratch, but would suffer such a backlash from a lot of their customers that they daren't. So the Windows 95 evolution will continue for evermore.

Apple had the luxury of a brand new OS in 2001. It was crap at first, but they had fewer customers so could take their time.

I am pretty sure I was one of those customers but I believe I waited till after the bugs were spotted and resolved before getting any upgrades to software... I have had no trouble with any of the OS I have had when I had them anyway.
