Altair
I bought a few years ago this Sarracenia purpurea var burkii. This year the plant flowered for the first time and I was very disappointed because of the flower's dark color. Is this really a Burkii or just a very expensive S. purpurea venosa typical form? Thanks!
gardenofeden
does not look like burkii to me, sorry
jesse
Is this really a Burkii or just a very expensive S. purpurea venosa typical form? Flower colour on the picture doesn't look like S. rosea on my PC monitor. But perhaps you can check some additional characteristics like lip thickness of the pitchers and compare with S. purpurea: http://www.nybg.org/files/scientists/rnacz...3-1206.1999.pdf
JamesHans
Forgive me but why does this Burkii command such a large amount of money to buy one?
gardenofeden
I don't think it does normally....I sell mine for similar prices or equivalent swaps to other Sarracenia

Altair
If anyone has a spare burkii with light pink / whitish flowers, possibly flowering size, I need it for my collection. I hope to get the real deal this time! Edited May 8, 2009 by Altair
