Cephalotus follicularis

Hi people,

This is my new aquisition, a adult Cephalotus follicularis, it’s a old dream.

Marcos Ono send me a big plant, and I repotting in last year (27/12/08).

The original substrate is 70% xaxim fiber, 20% vermiculite and 10% sphagnum.

I added (new substrate) 30% dried sphagnum moss, 10% live sphagnum moss, 20% quartz sand, 20% peat and 20% perlite.

Nice looking Cephalotus. It certainly shouldn't need repotting for a while, given the size of pot that it's now in :smile:

hi,

how long would it normally take for a ceph pitcher to balloon up and open the lid from a size like the one in the reference pic(pic no.10)?

thanks carlos..i'm stil waiting for mine to open up its lid..its already all ballooned up and when i shine light thru it,i can see the digestive fluid already preaent inside the developing pitcher..

Hi 'FairLady' and Earl,

I lost a nice adult pitcher, a bug destroy ...

... but the bug don't make this thing again :sun_bespectacled:

The new pitcher grow, I will post new pictures.

Hello Carlos,

"Xaxim" is called fern fiber in English. It's not commonly used for CPs outside of Brazil. Too bad it's not easily produced, since it's great stuff to grow CPs on!
