Shots from a tropical Utricularia tray...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

yesterday was a happy day as I discovered that I still grow a beautiful U. chrysantha form from Noonamah. I had this one in culture last year but lost it in winter. In late spring I was able to get hold of a starter from a fellow grower only to find out that I had a white flowered U. blanchetii growing in the pot.

Very much to my surprise I yesterday found one yellow flower among all those white ones... noonamah1bb8.th.jpg

A special feature of this U. chrysantha is the reddish to red backside of the corolla:

This pot is sharing the same tray with some other interesting Utricularia. However, several different D. burmannii and a D. indica {Africa} like the conditions very much and grow there like weeds. Every once in a while I have to remove at least some D. burmannii to give the Utricularia more light.

Here is a beautiful red burmannii from Humpty Doo (growing in a U. welwitschii pot):

Another beauty starting its flowering season:

Finally, one species which gets unfortunately pollinated by some unknown pollinator in my place. I would prefer the flowers to last a little longer.

Hi Dieter,

a headline to my taste

Shots from a tropical Utricularia tray..., ...plus some weedy sundews

Nice shots - as I already said before :hi:

BTW - the burmanni Humpty Doo seeds already germinated - thanks again!

Regards

Martin
