Loakesy
Mmm! Darlingtonia, now there's an idea!!
jimfoxy
Great bog, Susan. I think Darlingtonia are very well suited to outside bog gardens in the UK; more so than most Sarracenia. I have mine divided into a sphagnum area with the Darlingtonia, and a sphagnum free area for everything else. The problem is that I have put it somewhere a touch too shaded and it is far too heavy to move! Things seem to be growing ok for now, though, and my Darlingtonia pitchers are pretty tall this year. Guest
Hmmmmm - that's all very well but where do you put the plants when you want to have a bath ?!!
Loakesy
Hmmmmm - that's all very well but where do you put the plants when you want to have a bath ?!! Simple. I just dig them up and pop them in the shower... or the toilet!
wasted
I've been planning a bog for my back garden, do you guys do anything (like add a barrier below the soil surface) to stop plants taking over? I can imagine darlingtonia could run riot in a bog very quickly with stolons everywhere, how do you stop it taking over? Or do you just dig up and divide often? Or am I worrying unnecessarily? Cheers Wasted
beercanoo
Susan what a beautifull bog! i tried a couple of darlingtonia a few years back, but they didnt seem to take, dyou have any tips? Iv got an absolute ton off sarras that have been thriving outside for years and so are fully hardy, quite a few are large and in need of dividing, any chance of a trade?
