LJ
Very interesting Graham, it will be good to hear if the trigger hairs still work and its a new characteristic for the traps or if they have always produced these strange looking trigger hairs ......very odd indeed!! Vincent Limbourg
Lovely plant you've got there! The trigger hairs are indeed very special, I like the red colour on the inside! It reminds me of a pic that I saw on the site from Karnivores: DM bristle tooth Greetings, Vincent Edited June 1, 2008 by Vincent Limbourg
Graham
Excellent photo's and how strange. Is only the two traps that are have the strange trigger hairs or all? Hi Hugo, The last four are all the same, which is all of this years traps on shorter petioles. I had already triggered a couple of the traps while i was moving the plant, so only two photo's. Hi Trev, I haven't tested specific triggerhairs, but the traps certainly close as easily as a typical vft. I hope you haven't just looked round your collection to see if there's anything similar ;-) shocking Graham! compliments!! Thanks Melly, one does one's humble best. Alexis
They look like harpoons. Dionaea 'Harpoon' would be a good cultivar name
