manders
I'm a chemcial engineer, and try to improve the profitability of oil refineries. Not the manpower cutting type of improvement but I try to improve the process efficiency, and convert more fuel oil into gasoline that sort of thing. Sometimes with and sometimes without much cooperation from the clients!! Have worked just about all over the world and am now in Slovakia. Sallinger
I am a plant operator at a Municiple Wastewater Treatment plant. You could say I have job security . I have my 'C' certification in Wastewater treatment and my class 2 certificate in collection systems. In May I'll take my test to see if I can get my class 3 certification. Ian Salter
Interior/Exterior decorator. Can't really make it sound more interesting apart from the fact that I occasionally get jobs requiring graining, marbling and other techniques. But I did have a chemistry set once

Bob H
I was a Laboratory Technician for Her Maj's RN, until they made me redundant. Now I spend my time lolling around the home as a House Parent (or as was quoted by a renowned feminist " a second rate mother and a second rate man" !!!!!). It gives me almost enough time to endulge my hobbies, but with two young daughters, an over worked wife (NHS Sister) and a mental dogXpit-pony, I'm usually to bushed to do much. I'm also decorating the house (never ending, Forth bridge styly)and trying to sort out the little back garden to allow more CP's in. :-)

Rogier
I'm an ICT engineer and do projects for mainly large companies. Currently I work for Philips and doing my 3rd project there. I like to fun around at work as I don't take it all that serious, and luckily most of my colleages also. It doesn't mean I don't perform a good job, but more that I don't let myself go crazy in the pressure there is sometimes. We frinstens simply close the door and have competitions for the best Jim Carrey performance, or do basketball games with thise mini basket nets! But ooh,... don't tell this to the staff of Philips! As busy my job last year was, as easy I let it go when driving home!

Mick
Well, as an interviewer said at my last interview, I've "had a chequered career"!!! :? 6 years as a physiology/pharmacology lab tech at a University. A couple of years doing a degree. Almost 9 years as a Research Pharmacologist (Pharmaceutical Industry). 2 years running a small health & nutrition Marketing company. I was the 'M' in 'M & E Marketing'. Big mistake. Just started a new job in the local hospital Pharmacy. Just to make enough cash to put a non leaky roof on my new house in France. Oh, and plumbing, sewerage, electricity, plaster, windows/doors etc. etc. etc. :o Mick.

Frederick
Short story: nothing Long story: I graduated as an Engineer in Electronics and IT in 2001 and had jobs varying from diggin' holes to plant roses and install seats in the Concertbuilding of Brughe to designing motherboards for RISC-processors and writing firmware for heavy-duty distributed processors. In October last year I decided to stop looking for work and start a bridging course at the University, which makes me a 26 year old student Civil Engineering with a major in Computer Architecture and a minor in human fysiology (which unfortunately doesn't include the reproduction system). I hope to graduate next year and finally get my ticket out of Belgium. In retrospect, diggin' holes was the best job and I would still love to be a truckdriver. schimatrix
So I'm an architect: it could even sound good, but in Italy that mainly means that you have to: a) try desperately to convince those few friends who have had the ill-considered idea to restructure one's house that changing it into a sort of loft (open-plan, bedroom as part of the living area) does not necessarily mean that your guests will try to catch you in panties when it's time to go to bed b) live by terribly boring analysis, losing one's sigh in front of a computer redrawing boundless portions of italian territory (wondering if someone else has already done it by chance) as everybody can easily infer from all of that, this is not necessarily a remunerative kind of job..at all giuseppe
Loakesy
I'm currently working in the Fingerprint Bureau in New Scotland Yard, but waiting to hear about a promotion that will see me posted to a local police station where I can get back to my passion of carrying out forensic examinations of all types of crime scenes! OK, I found out today that I didn't get that promotion I've been waiting to hear about since August, and I'm absolutely gutted!!!!!!!!!! :madman: #-o Lots of sympathy please!

Tim
Their loss. Don't worry, qualified labor is always in short supply. Trust me, I lived in Africa for much of my adult life. There can be huge unemployment, but someone who knows what they are doing and has a broad intellegence like you will eventually rise to the top. Forgive me if this sounds forward, but you are silly to worry.

fly
Really sorry to hear that Loaksey - that must have been pretty gutting. I think forensics are fascinating - you never know, perhaps the next opportunity that comes up will be even better - life's funny like that sometimes. Kribuk - I also did a zoology degree and it was great - but if you want to make money, stock-broking is definately the answer
Davy
Started off in conservation forestry for the local authority...... Gave that up to work on a project to build a 17th C farmhouse. When that was done..found myself a job working within the NHS. Now, I am a carer for my wife, and a houseparent.
