My Mini Bog

Recommended Posts

I have been making a mini bog as you probably already know, but I just decided to use perlite in the end as you probably already know. I haven't had and problems so I'm guessing it should be ok.

S. purpurea:

S. x wrigleyana:

S. flava (looking quite ugly as a lot of our [tall, mostly] pitcher plants are like at the minute):

D. capensis (ok, it isn't in the bog, but it is looking rather nice at the minute [it is in flower but if I got that in the shot wouldn't look very good] also, notice the fact that it has a 'how to grow this plant' leaflet, after it had a near-death experience when I was on holiday. My other plants need these- most of them wilted.):

Thank you.

My thoughts as well, are you sure your flava is indeed one? It surely doesn't look so.

Actually, nobody has ever seen it before... so I just guessed! I think we should go back to that old thread on this plant...

It could be a S. x stevensii, why? Because it looks a bit like one and they are available practically in every garden shop across europe.

I see you chose the container to blend in with the plants :D

A top dressing of peat/sand would help to hide the perlite too. :D

Yes the container is rather er, how should I put it, fluorescent. I was going to put the container into a terracotta coloured plastic pot. Then I don't have to bother repotting it because of the container being hard on the eyes. I'll try to find some horticultural sand (or silver) , but, it's hard to come by here. It's not really a gardeny planty place here. They only ever sell builders sand.
