name changes

Hi

On Chris's thread about wanting vft I found out that the southwest has had a name change and so has the red rosetted and the slack's giant.

Can someone bring me up to speed as to when all this happened and why none of the plants that I own with these names are similar to each other.

Many thanks

Jason :D

'Slack's Giant' and 'South West Giant' are the same clone - there has been no change of name. In fact the plant is not a registered cultivar under either name and should be considered a typical clone until such time as it is registered. It is simply a case of one plant being marketed by two different sources. You could sell the plant as 'Jason's Giant' - the name would be just as valid.

If your SWG and Slack's plants appear to be substantially different to each other, I can only suggest that at least one of them is not the clone it purports to be

Hi

My point still is that none of the vft above have the same atributes and therefore I cannot see how you can call them the same

The southwest is so remarkably different to the otheres that it cannot be mistaken

I take Stephen Morely's south west as my example

mine is just like his (not as big yet) but still .

Am I the only person to see this ?

You cannot just say sorry relable three plants

Am I missing something ?

Jason

As ever confused :D

Sorry forgot to log out and in as me :)

Suzy/Jason - Yes, I can see you are confused although it appears to be more serious than just the plants!

If the two plants are substantially different at least one of them is wrongly labelled.

Well we seem pretty sure that the plant formerly known as 'Slack's Giant' is the plant labelled G16 from Graham Sadd.

The plant formerly known as 'South West Giant' now possibly should be 'Slack's Giant'.

I'm sticking to the labelling of 'South West Giant' for the upright plant with long petioles and 'G16' for the rosetted plant.
