Pinguicula vulgars in Landsberg, Bavaria

Recommended Posts

On Friday, 4th of May Matthias and I visited together with Andreas Fleischmann a site of Pinguicula vulgaris in Landsberg, Bavaria.

The first site was a damp meadow in a forest. The subsoil exists of tuff covered with lime gravel. Leakage water keeps the meadow more or less wet depending on the level of the groundwater.

Flowering time of P. vulgaris usually starts in mid to end of May but we hoped to see some specimen in flower by this time because of the unusual warm and sunny spring in Germany.

Overview of the meadow with numerous flowering primoses.
