Malifex Posted December 5, 2006 Report Share Posted December 5, 2006 I was recently lucky enough to go to New Caledonia on business, and persuaded my collaborator to show me N. vieillardii. Being 'at work', I couldn't spend as much time worshipping as I would have liked, but I did manage to snap the following: The plants were growing in what looked, to a greenhouse grower, like the most terrible soil - dry-baked red laterite on a steep slope. The area, Koniambo Massif, is being mined for nickel, and the ultramafic soils are presumably full of a range of metals. Yet the plants were big, healthy and flowering vigorously. I didn't manage to see Drosera neocaledonica, but the Neps were enough for me Many thanks to Eric Partrat for advice prior to my trip.
