Guest rik_rock
EDIT: Managed to get some much better pictures of the pitcher in question, anybody know what might have caused this? Brown patches developed a day or two in advance, before the hole appeared and the pitcher as a whole doesn't look too good. rest of the plant seems alright. Thanks again. Guest Aidan
Malformations of the tongue are nothing to worry about. Perfect ones are rarer! It's hard to determine anything about the spot on the pitcher. An in-focus photo even if it has to be taken from a little further back may help. Guest Aidan
That is caterpillar damage. Frass is clearly visible in the last photo of the munched hood. Probably the caterpillar of a Tortrix moth, it will be hidden in some webbing within the pitcher. Either search until you can find and extract the little monster, or remove the pitcher completely. Guest rik_rock
Had a feel and couldn't tell if there was anything inside. Removed the pitcher and sliced it open. Sure enough, there was a *tiny* little green imposter munching away on the inside, who has now been disposed of. Thanks for the super-fast reply and for your help, you were spot-on!
