vic brown
Looking at both Bob's 'Carnivorous Plant Photo Finder' (http://www.humboldt.edu/~rrz7001/Pinguicula.html) and Eric's 'A World of Pinguicula' (http://www.pinguicula.org) there doesn't appear to be a decent picture of the white-flowered form of Pinguicula gigantea, often called var. alba, on the internet. I obtained my plant as a tiny specimen a couple of years ago and was pleased that when it flowered this week, it was the real thing. I don't find this form any different to the typical blue/purple flowered form in it's cultural requirements, but it appears to be much rarer in cultivation. This is mainly for Bob and Eric, but other Ping-lovers can feel free to enjoy! :) Pinguicula gigantea var. alba Cheers Vic

BobZ
Vic, you are right. I had not seen the white-flowered form. The ICPS Database does not list it as a variety. Has it been described anywhere? Perhaps it could be registered as a cultivar? I have listed photo links where the name P. gigantea alba is listed as one of the parents in an unnamed hybrid: Pinguicula x [gigantea alba*moctezumae] and also in Stan Lampard's Pinguicula "Apasionada" [gigantea alba*moctezumae]; and Pinguicula “Ensueno” [laueana type*gigantea alba]
AdamH
Hi Vic, A stunning photo, as always! Huge plant as well! I particularly like the effect of the bright green central area / throat contrasting with the pure white.
