Guest Danny
I've all my cp's in 1 big container, i'm making them hard for the winter, Sar. purpurea ssp. venosa, Sar. Stevensii, Sar. Leucophylla (I believe its a leucophylla), Sar. Psittacenia, Drosera Capensis, Drosera Aliciae, Dionaea. I don't know if they'll survive it. Can anyone tell me? And how long does a cp live? Alexis
A lot of CPs live indefinitely by dividing and developing new growth points. Your purpurea ssp. purpurea will survive no problems but your capensis and aliciae will be killed. Grow them on a windowsill over winter. As for the other sarracenias, I would mulch and keep the snow on them as much as possible. They should be okay, but no guarantees.
Jonathan
What's your typical minimum temperature Danny? I would worry about the leuc although you'd be taking a chance with stevensii and purp venosa too. Alexis is right - snow cover will eally insulate them (wish we had more in the UK over winter - most of our losses of more tender plants are in wet cold spells).
