  1. This is driving me crazy
  2. Hi there. Yeah, that's exactly what happens here. I do have a friend that has a huge N. truncata Highland variety in his greenhouse and it's acclimated to this weather. Same with Heliamphoras. Two friends of mine have big adult Heliamphoras in their greenhouses and the plants endure the 45º temps during the day when its summer. I guess some plants adapt and others don't. For now my plants are less than 1 inch so cooling them this summer won't be hard. I'm going to make a DIY swamp cooler and inyect the cool air inside a terrarium i'm going to build. The thing is... If I bring my plants inside for the summer, won't the plants suffer the transition and make it harder to put them back outside during winter? pd: yes, the aristo where from ebay.
  3. Thanks for the answer! The worst of the summer (the hot days AND nights) last 1 month. After that the nights start to cool gradualy
  4. Hi there! Amazing terrarium. I want that in my living room! Could you explain me a bit the cooling system? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi guys! I recieved a couple of N. aristo and other highlands seeds like 4 months ago and now they are starting to germinate. So long some few aristo, dubia and jacquelineae have sprouted but i'm quite excited. I'm from Argentina. Winters are almost perfect for highlanders (lol) but the middle of the summer can be unforgiving (30º almost every day and 35º sometimes, 20-25º every night) Right now the seed tray is in the balcony under a table so the sun never hits it directly. It has been there since I planted the seeds and they germinated under winder end - spring conditions. The summer is starting in 20 days. During this days the day gets to 25º - 30º and the night drops to 15-18º. I was planning to, when the summer starts to hit hard, enter all the seed trays, put them in a fish tank under fluorecent tubes and cool them with frozen bottles during the nights. The thing is: When the plants get big, I won't be able to do that (imagine a N. dubia in a small fish tank). Although I plan to build a Highland greenhouse with maybe an AC or a Swamp cooler for the summer nights, I was thinking maybe if I let them suffer the summer from the very beginning of their lives they will acclimate to my region conditions and won't suffer when they are adult. Of course, since they are rare plants and also live beings (here in my country at least) I don't want to kill them all just because an experiment. Would you share your thoughts? Thank you a lot! Dante.

    Cyanobacter

Hi guys. I'm having trouble with seed pots... Cyanobacter keeps appearing and I don't know how to kill it without hurting the seedlings or the germination rate... any help?
  7. Thanks a lot for the answer. 26c at night usually last only January and maybe half February. The 5C during nights can be solved using an electric heater or something like that inside the greenhouse, but I'm more worried about overheating during summer since I won't install an AC unit. The only thing I can do is to put a swamp cooler.
  8. Hi everyone. I'm starting some N. dubia from seed and I was wondering, how much heat can these tolerate? I leave in Argentina. During winter, temp won't usually go below 5ºC. The problem is that during summer it can get to 33ºC during the day and 26ºC during the night. I'm planning to build a greenhouse and to put a swamp cooler in it, but I wanted to know how much a N. dubia can tolerate without dying. I'm expecting the plants will stop the growth but I'm hoping they can resist until cooler temps.
  9. Hi there guys I was wondering, can I use Acaricide to kill bugs in the trays where i have the nepenthes seeds and some seedlings? Thanks in advance
  10. Hi everyone. Im new to these forums. Im Dante from Argentina. I have a small terrarium for my new Nepenthes, but the new leaves are growing in spirals, with oddly shapes and never finish to grow. They have close to 30ºc and 80% or more of humidity. Any ideas of what could be happening?
