Hello everyone,
I'm thinking of making a bog area in my garden but there is one problem...
The neighbours cats! As cats do they always come into MY garden and dig up plants and do there business in there. So I'm a bit worried about making a bog with these pests running loose.
Any suggestions about to keep them out?

Aren't Chinese takeaway trays dead handy
I've recently used one to shelter my hygrostat from the overhead misters in the greenhouse.
Good luck with your bog, it's looking smart.
What a great idea!

With sphagnum if I buy a small bit will it spread quickly? I was wondering if I could cultivate it.

Hi all,
I've just bought a sarracenia flava and a sarracenia minor.
I've been told to use 2:1 peat and Quartz sand. Is there anything I could use instead of peat that is cheaper and above all a bit more plentiful and less damaging to bogs?

'Did you guys already have CP's when you were young?'
Not me, I started when I was about 23, well that's quite young I suppose, but my teens were mis-spent! I was always fascinated by them though and as an ecologist and keen naturalist, I had seen most of the UK species in the wild before I ever cultivated any.
Vic
I have them I started when i was 11 (I'm 12 now.)

Also sign in to your local water authority where you can get water quality readings, they will be helpful to determine how detrimental the water could be.
Well I know it's very hard water I'm in Essex. It rained yesterday but the water butt has a leak and won't fill up

The new forrest is great for them.
(Sundews mainly)

Hi all,
Were I live there has been a small drought. The rain water collector is running out of water. So is there any other way to water plants, that need rain water. I was wondering if boiling tap water would suffice?
