Another update .. Things are really taking off now, and as predicted space is becoming limited ! Loving the sundews I have to say, and the VFT's are blooming ! Almost all the Sarras are putting up pitchers now and the reserve collection is looking a lot healthier ! Definitely going to need another display making ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well I'm no doubt going to try and do another display bench, so any help you need, just ask. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi, Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like. I can assure you there's been a minimal outlay for the whole thing. The plastic tray the plants sit in is an underbed storage box from B and M Bargains (about a fiver) the logs were 8 quid each from B and Q. The bench was made out of off cuts of 3x2. The medium is peat moss and perlite from the garden centre (about £20 for enough plus spares). And the plants, well if you look around on the site there are so many kind a generous people who will let you pick up some of their spare stock fora fraction of the rrp, and even throw in the odd freebie! Maintenance is minimal, lots of rainwater / deionised water , and just time plucking out rouge weeds and strands of grass that grow through the moss. I reckon by next season I should have a few spares which I'll gladly help you with if you like. Cheers ! FD

Damn phone sent half a message !! Just to say, keep asking the questions. The people on here are so helpful. And there's always people with a little spare stock to help quickly build your collection. I started with a few pots and a chat with Ada on here 18 months or so ago .. And here's my little display, I'll probably have some bits and bats spare in the coming weeks... And the advice I got was spot on, whatever size greenhouse you have.... It's not big enough ! Ha ! Enjoy ! FD

Morning ! I'm a full year in and believe me, once the bug bites it bites !

Update Time ☺️ Well the winter has passed, and I've just started to up the water levels to get things a little more 'boggy'. And despite my worries, never having been through a winter before, everything seems to be sparking into life. So, as per the suggestion, I'll post a pic or 2 every few weeks to see how things progress. As per, if anyone has any feedback or advice, throw it my way ! Heaven knows I need it ! The first of the sundews are starting to grow ☺️ And the Capensis in the log survived the winter too ☺️ And on the right hand side the VFT's are kicking into life ☺️ And hopefully, soon the sarracenias will start to throw up a few pitchers ☺️ That's how it's looking as we hit the start of the growing season (I think !) Hope you like ! Check out www.Floydsdadonthepans.wordpress.com

Morning all :) Update time .. I spent most of yesterday afternoon planting out the display.. And here it is ! (Still room for a few additions before I add the rest of the moss) A little more detail, working right to left .. A couple of Sarracenia at the back, with the space for a Cobra lily and a small Heliamphora in between. At the front a selection of Dionea, with an Aki Ryu in the moss on the left. In the centre, a gnarled old weathered log with a 48mm hole drilled right through to allow a Cape Sundew to be planted within it. A Sarracenia Leucophylla at the rear, a couple of Purpurea and a small Cephalotus (courtesy of Santa Claus!), and at the front by the driftwood, the Pingiculas which are just some of the plants kindly supplied by Ada. And on the left, another Sarracenia from 'Santa' (well, Matt at Hantsflytrap to be precise!) and a little oasis of Sundews! I found some very low growing moss which once it settles goes a vivid pale green, (it needs to spread somewhat). In there are two Binata, a Madagascariensis and an Aliciae. I have an Anglica, and a Spatula dormant in pots which I'll plant out in the spring. I've just been out to check and the peat is nice and wet, but not waterlogged, so I'll keep an eye on that . Fingers crossed the plants are hardy enough to withstand any errors I've made! Hopefully in a few months it will look a much healthier picture :) Hope you like ... If you can think of any additions I can make feel free to suggest. (I'm working on a way to suspend a couple of Nepenthes over the display when it warms up!) Cheers ... riveroalbert, Blocky71 thanks for the comments :) It's all planted up now, with a selection of mosses that I've been growing in the same medium to make sure they take ! Final bit of tidying up to do, then I'll post some pics :) Check out www.Floydsdadonthepans.wordpress.com

Thanks for the advice .. I've not got the heart to undo 'Norms' handy work, however as I'm currently preparing the 'business case' for a new bigger greenhouse, I'll try that next time. :) Check out www.Floydsdadonthepans.wordpress.com

FredG I thought I'd try and replicate (only on a bigger scale) the principal of plant pots in trays of water. It might transpire that it's not necessary, which tbh would be good. If I want to do another bigger one, I'd probably struggle to find a box big enough ! :) Thanks for the reply :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Ada ! Going to fill it today .. Hoping I can do justice to the plants I got from yourself and Matt ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
