  1. At the moment ive got S.Popei which is starting to lean a little bit. My S.Stevensii is looking ok..... I have another which im not sure of the species.... I looks like a cross with S.Minor.... Maybe S.Flava x Minor? and my S.Purp x Oreo is leaning over (more likely from weight of water in the pitchers though i think) Cheers Chris
  2. Ok. What form of support could i use? pitchers seem a difficult shape to support to me? will i have to tie them to a stick or somethin? Cheers Chris
  3. Hmmm...... Well they get about 7 hours or so of direct light and i would think all the pitchers get at least some of it as it moves round the sky...... The choking roots may be a possibility as they are in pure peat (Maybe its too dense?) and they are in the open, so rain and wind does get to them...... Ill have to see what happens once i have my greenhouse set up. Thanks a lot for the info everyone. Chris
  4. Hi everyone...... A lot of my Sarracenia seem to have drooping pitchers and are hanging over the edge of the pot..... Is this an error in repotting them? i dont bury the growth point i leave it about half way out of the soil. I dont know if its meant to be completely under the soil medium or not? But its a bit frustrating having all the plants having a couple of drooping pitchers that end up feeding themselves to my VFT's lol. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers Chris
  5. Hmmm. I have the same question about one of my Sarracenia.... The lid is both partially open and closed. So what do you do? Cheers Chris
  6. Ah.... well its gonna be covered with a plastic or glass lid with a small gap for ventilation and im most likely gonna put it into a shed or greenhouse if i manage to get one by the winter. Chris
  7. Hmmmmm, yeah maybe.... or have the binata pot undrained and water it seperately from above. Im planning on making a similar thing to what you have done but it will be shallower and standing in about 4 inches of water. Im gonna have al sorts of Drosera in there. Chris
  8. Manders next time you do something similar to what youve allready done why not keep a Binata in its own pot and just bury it in the soil mix of the larger pot? then have all the others around it? that way it will stay balanced. Chris
  9. Oh cool thanks Indy. That might sort out the problem lol. In this case my actual humidity of my terrarium may be higher than i thought.... Thanks a lot Chris
  10. Oh forgot the bit about my sarracenia and VFT's...... At the moment they have been drying out slightly.... This is because of the heat wave here in the UK.... We are reaching temperatures of up to 37 Degrees celcius.... Normally they are fine though..... Some of my sarracenia have just been moved outside too from my house so they are having a few problems adjusting but apart from that they are fine. My VFT's seem ok too. Chris
  11. Bloody hell those Drosera look great! Thats enough to make me consider trying something like that..... The only Drosera i have right now are the D. Binata Multifida 'Extrema', D. Regia, D. Nidiformis, and a little seedling but i have no idea what it is or how it got in my soil. I am waiting for 5 Drosera Capensis Red forms to arrive so i will be putting those outside too under some sort of plastic or glass dome/propagator arrangement....... You say you used a 7 inch deep bin? Where can i get one of those? Im very tempted to set something up like you did. Did you just lay the sheet of glass over the top of the bin? As for the hardening off i could ry your bag technique..... Only problem is that my Binata leaves are very long and hanging off the edge of the basket. I think this is maybe due to insufficient lighting as it was behind a net curtain. Anyways, if you could send me an e-mail with advice on how to create some sort of Drosera Bog thingy like you did then it would be greatly appreciated. In the last few days my favourite CP has gone from Cephalotus to VFT to Drosera lol. I cant make up my mind.... Anyways thanks a lot for the help Chris
  12. TroJon i was actually fairly dissapointed with the CP's they actually had for sale. They look just like the ones u see in garden centers, and also all the little kids sit with bits of paper of twig poking all the traps so it kinda put me off. As for prices they seemed ok to me. I cant remember how much the CP i brought from there cost me but it was something like 2-3 pounds. Chris
  13. Tamlin, my humidity dial reads only 10% humidity outside next to my plants. Is there a difference between humidity in direct sun and the actual humidity the plants are getting? Does it give a false reading or something? Im leaving my Binata in the shade for a week then slowly increasing it until it gets the same as my other plants which is about 7 hours of direct light. At the moment it only gets maybe 2. Any more advice would be great, thanks Chris
  14. My Binata Multifida 'Extrema' is in a hanging basket but its too heavy to hang anywhere in my garden. I dont have a greenhouse of any kind yet but i have my plants out in the open air which ive been told is fine. I just moved my Binata outside today into amore shaded part of the garden until it addapts to the conditions and then i will increase the amount of light it gets. I may move my Regia out there too sometime. If im doing anything wrong plz tell me cause i dont want them dying. Thanks a lot Chris
  15. Wow..... Ok well ill put mine outside in a propagator maybe or a small cold frame..... Can this also be done with Regia and Binata? I also need to know how often capensis will produce seed so i can think of a way of collecting and growing them quickly. Cheers Chris
  16. Ok, so it doesnt actually matter how much direct light it gets? it could be put in the same lighting that my sarracenia get? They get around 7 hours direct sun a day from what i can tell. Will they burn atall? Thanks a lot Chris
  17. Hi all.. As im recieving some red form Capensis soon i would like to know what sort of light it likes and if it requires direct sun how much can it take? cause i thought Drosera burn very easily? Thanks a lot Chris
