  2. running a TC lab!

  3. Hi,everyone from CPUK, In my way from classroom to Lab today,I found a kind of intresting mushroom under the bamboo shade. As I'm very intrested in edible fungy I know that it is a very valueble mushroom, which in chinese is called"zhu yan wo",literally means "bamboo birds' nest". But what confused me is that I can never find it's scientific name in many databases, both in chinese and in english, naturally it's impossible to download researching thesis of this fungus(actually I'm wondering wheather it is one of undiscovered new spices). So I post these pics, hoping that some of you experienced ones who don't live in asia, have ever seen this mushroom in your regions(America, europe,Australia or africa) before and konw what is on earth its true name. Thanks a lot! This is the gelidium-like mushroom collected in University ChongQing. Growes on falled, half rotted bamboo leaves P.S if you search in google with chinese keyword "竹燕窝“ there will be some results and pictures, but these are far less useful for that they concern only on "how to eat and where they grow". This is a picture search result:
  4. In LIaoLing provence have long been claimed that wind and solar energy are "state-owened-properties" haha. please read this link to learn more:http://news.xinhuanet.com/politics/2012-06/20/c_112260656.htm, A translator may needed.
  5. It is often happend on drosera that a plantlet growes from the exact center of one of old leaves that are in touch of medium. In this case,"daughter plant" is easy to seperate by merely cutting off the leaf it growes on,then transplant.
  6. Hmm,I suddenly find my camera do not work! I could only take these fotoes with nokia... 1. plantlets deflasked and washed 2. In the acclimation container(there are only a few, because most of them growed new leaves and have been transplanted ), transplanted plantlets: Hope these helps!
  7. Hi there, I TCed a batch of vfts and until now, there are about 80% of plantlets survived the acclimation prozess.Protocals I used are listed as follows: 1. saturate air humidity for the first 3 weeks until platnlets form new leaves, then gradually decrease it(cut holes on the humidity-sustaining film). 2. 50 watt T8 lamp. light is not so crucial ,for plants stay in the acclimating container temporarily after all. 3. It dosen't matter wheather air exchanges if my "pseudo-planting" medium is clean enough. But it may be better if I can garantee both humidity and air freshness, making it less likely to mould or get bacteria comtam. As for the easiest plants for acclimation,I take drosera for granted for that their growing humidity is nearly 100%. I will later post some fotoes of my acclimation. best regards
  8. Kirra~~A fat fish eject from the tube,CatMario dead again...

  9. Hi,Mr moderator, Any way, I should have post more pics contains explicit informations.now I shall add some pics of my starting material :) what's a pity,I could not find out pics of edelweiss living environment from the messed-up harddisk...
  10. Hello mobile, They are relly edelweiss.I will try to find out and post their photographs picked in their habitat.
  11. Hi,Andreas, You are eye sharped.I actually do use a translator in responce of you. language in your land is for me with great grammar difficulty, makeing it not easy to formulate a grammatically right paragraph though it's not hard to understand. That's one of these reasons that I turned to English 4 years ago.So that's why I said "have learned" rather than "have been learning". (I shall not go sth about language too far for fears that this topic get deleted by Admin :) ) I picked up these edelweiss and their seeds in TianShan mountain at the altitude of about 3700 m where sunlight is very abundant and UV is very strong.Edelweiss there are relly white for the whole plants are embedded by a thick hair layer.Yes,these plants are Highland natives, naturally needs extrodinary growing environment that is until now impossible for us rebuilding. You can see plants in the culturing jars are deepgreen and with little hair. It's surely not so charmont as it do in their habitat!(after picking plants I get punished,my skin exposed to short wave UV ,is peeled off ) when I referd to myths about edelweiss,OK,it maybe, that I again used incorrect words. Here I mean there're some stories about them in your culture,e.g edelweiss stands for courage and brave.Even Hitler have made pedals at the figure of these plants to award his sodiers. At the end,I suggest that any one who deserves to learn edelweiss deep should go to their living standort, feeling why this plants are so respected in german-speaking regions. What I'm doing(TC) are staying at the most primitive pharse----at the sight of material and utilisation. I havn't peredicted that this topic should derive so many disscutions
  13. HI,Andreas Eils, may be I used incorrect word "supplement" which may refer to aphrodisiacs but I absolutely do not mean that(instead I have learnd a artical,it said some south european would use beetle and wein as aphrodisiacs in 18-19th).I just want to talk about propagation of this plant and hope one day herbal drug practitioners would extract effective components from artificially produced plants instead of from ones collected from the fragile high-land living habitat. As you talked about the "natural shiny white" edelweiss I'd like to say any plants would grow happier in their natural habitat and sexual produced plants would overwhelm their asexual conterparts in the long run. However, it is for edelweiss devastating if us selfish human are all pursuading this "natural colour" and collecting plants and their seeds from mountians without moderation.I'm very sure your Cps,even the nepenthes showed in your avatar included, are all from TC factorys since they are all proctected by CITES.As for me,in the prospect of protecting,TC is all right. yep,I have learnd several years of german before I learned english though I haven't master them until so far, that should be the main factor contributed today's embarrasment.I apologise for the misuse of words that let you misunderstand this artical. And at last,I am really not intend to insult the in your culture "both noble and white" plants,if it is so I beg your pardon, for I and my vocabulary are guilty.
  14. Hello everyone, At the same time of paopagating vfts,I also get some plants of leontopodium leontopodies (Edelweiss) and carry out TC experiment of them. Here are some pics to share with :) Red callus, inducted under inappropriate hormone circumstances, are took as inefficient to regenerate adventitious buds. This is the granie-like,green callus,we can also see that there are already some plantlets are growing at the surface of them. Seems like unpossible for roots to get inducted~ Regenerating and proliferation These plantlets are booming in the flask!! Another background: It is said that edelweiss contains some substances that are benificial for human healthy such as flavonoids. This plant may be worthwhile developing for tea or supplement making. Hope you enjoy them!
  15. Hmm,thanks dudo,I get it! And I will have a try!
  16. Hi Dudo, thanks for sharing these impressive Pics! by the way, would you mind to let me informed of which Gel you used in your Experiment?it's really transparent unlike Agar I used.
  17. Hello, mantrid, the pH of water extracts of this stone ranges from 6 to 8,depends on where the rocks are collected.
  18. Hello everyone, these pics are update of my last vfts' experiments(the former report are onhttp://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48193).Hope you enjoy them! dioneae muspicula ellis, growing in tap wasser culturing medium without hormons: plantlets are too green for lacking of light but I'm sure they will get yellow-green soon under my newly purchased lamps, which are more powerful. they are growing too crowed and needs seperating There are some plants flowering in the jar,and cansequently I self pollinated them looking foward to harvest bacterium free seeds. self pollination: these are plantslets domesticating, young plants are put on Quatz sand in combination of a little moss.In purpose of forceing plants adapt to High salt environment,The Wasser used are also tap wasser, mineral contained. My Ultimate goal is to grow this salt sensitive plant in my local without artificial intervention, and this will be disscussed in my next experiment. leaf pulling, growes very slowly. These are soil forming rocks in my location.Soil they generated are well known "purple soil",which lacks nitrogen and some other nutrinents ,maily distributed in municipal chong qing or some area of sichuan provence. In my area these rocks and soil they formed are abundant so I'm trying to use this as growing medium of vfts, anticipating a nice result! In addition, these rocks will not generate CO2 when met with hydrocloric acid, implying they contians little CaCO3. rocks(identical purple rock) plants transplanted in the purple soil.I will report results(die or alive) after 2-3months later. very sorry for the poor img quality!
  19. Now is to find a optimal growing medium from my native natural environment

  20. you may temporaryly use alt plus ascll value of enter before you solve this problem
  21. From the discription of some TC text books,IAA(IBA ) could induce roots that are thin and long,NAA induced roots are rough and short with callus.so we'd better mix these 2 hormons at a ritio as you said.Actually some plants form roots spontanously without any auxins AC is always used for preventing explants form getting black,it should be added in medium with optimum dosage if explants contain much phenolic are sterilised.AC shouldn't used any more in our subculturing prozess as it absorbs not only phenolic but also nutrilent. ingredients I used to induct callus of borago officilis with 2,4-d. cytokinins such as ZT are too expensive(is being sold by minigram) to be used in my experiments.
  22. Thanks for your kind suggestions! The temperature is also too high for VFTs.maybe it is only optimal for D. falconeri or some other NT sundews. Ah,I would have considered this method earlyer!I think I have to try this method now that hot summer together with dormancy are for vfts inevitable!Great idea! I haven't began to nurture neps however if I want to,I will grow highland spiecies such as N.attenboroughii because their pitchers are more beautiful than their lowland conterparts. But sadly,I can't offer even lowland neps a good environment let alone highland one, which always grows slowly and not so good in some professional GH.
  23. Thanks to replying this topic! Yes,actually I haven't sucess even for one time trying to sterilise sundrew leaves, they are too thinn to withstand disinfection agents' toxity. As for the salt concentration I think, they can ony tolerate in vitro because there are other abundant salts in medium, which eased peculiar salt's toxity. --geier7
  24. I am always jealous and surprised when seeing Greehouses in europe needn't be equipped with expensive, energy intensive airconditioner to cool down(see Cedric's GH http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44470).As I haven't been to europe I didn't know if enough sunlight and optimal air humidity ,which are basical requirment of VFTs,could natrually coexist without too many artificial intervetion. As for me,I lived in middle-south asia where the temperature in summer will reach up to about 40 centigrade degrees thus I couldn't maintain a suitable environment for my canivores. As is konwn all, high air humidity and strong sunlight are entwined with "Green House Effect",exacerbrating the overheat condition in my own greenhouse.I have ever recorded a extreme 45 degrees though I opened all the windows and shadowed sunlight. since now it is winter,my VFTs are temporarily safe but I'm sure they will suffer if I can't find out a solution before summer comes. So I am hungeryly longing for a idea and resort to you experenced ones.Could any one give me some suggestions?I think my VFTs couldn't be gratiful more! Thanks! (For I am not a commercial grower but just a college student,it is impractical for me to purchase professional cooling devices)
