  1. Hi everyone, I've had my u jamesoniana on my SE bathroom windowsill for nearly a year now and after knocking it into the bath a few months ago, I thought I'd sent it back a year in growth but I'm happy to say it is gracing me with a flower stalk and all going well a beautiful flower. This is where I keep the majority of my orchidiodes utrics, quelchii ayuan and illu tepui, nelumbifolia, reniformis and mannii (I know it's not orchidiodes) which is producing a flower as I speak. Also my alpina has finally decided to flower after some years, funnily enough is not the large mother plant but one small division I kept when I sent some out to a couple of forum members, and one of there's is putting up a flower stalk as well. I'll post some pics once my phone has enough charge to use the flash. Oh and nephrophylla that I recently acquired with some lovely heli's from a very generous forum member funtofunky. Cheers Mark
  2. I didn't say that talking about immigration is racist, but like I said the people I talked to that were banging on about immigration are racist, believe me, they're not shy about the terms they use for certain minorities. But I highlight, this is people I talked to at my mates snack bar.And you can't deny that a lot of racist people in the uk might have voted out for the simple reason that they don't like immigrants coming to the uk and nothing to do with jobs or anything else. When the immigration card is played it's easy to see that it's a draw to racists. But of course all people concerned about immigration are not racist because of there concern, wether I agree with the concern or not. Mark
  3. Mantrid, please read my post properly, I was talking about people I have talked to at my mates snack bar. And believe me when I say a lot of the people I talked to are racist and all they could talk about was the issue of immigration. And to be honest if you haven't noticed how extreme the anti immigration thing is getting with a cross section of the British public then what can I say, I've heard all this reteric long before when a few of my friends went from being skinheads who listened to and loved Black music and then got into that daft nf, bnp bull. They then thought it was a great idea to travel to bradford and go paki bashing, suffice to say I've never talked to them since there radicalisation. Of course I don't think everyone that is anti immigration is racist. Mark
  4. I can't help but feel, that this decision is down to latent racism. I'm not talking about any one on the forum, but talking to a lot of people that come to my mates snack bar, and it always comes down to immigrants, with the leave people. Mark
  5. I second that. I have some jacquelineae seedlings but only a cm across, will be happy if they grow up to be as fine a plant as yours Mark
  6. Ah the sabre, a classic aircraft :) Mark
  7. Hi Harro, I was there from 87 to 93, they had 2 harrier squadrons no.3 and 4, and I believe one helicopter squad as well. Wow you were a pilot, which aircraft did you fly at the time? It really is a small world. Yes I would love to take you up on your offer if I hey back out that way again. Mark
  8. Thank you very much for the lovely photos, takes me back to my childhood, when my stepdad was posted to gutersloh and we spent nearly six years there with frequent trips to the harz mountains and the Black forest. I really miss Germany, it's a stunning country and a great people. Cheers Mark
  9. I've emailed BE and just waiting on a response from them. Mark
  10. Cheers for the links welshy, sounds really interesting, someone on another forum mentioned that n lady pauline had two clones one male and one female but they look exactly the same, maybe BE also did similar with bb. I'll have to email Matthew and rob to see if they know anything about this. Mark
  11. Well after sourcing pollen, my bill Bailey has opened its first flower and it's a bloody male, this is very strange as it's a clone only plant and it's definitely meant to be female, I also remember a thread a few years ago where a cpuk member flowered and successfully pollinated his bill Bailey. I got my my plant in 2012 in a bio dome from Hampshire carnivorous plants and they buy them in direct from borneo exotics. Does anyone know why this is, can nepenthes reverse there sex? Mark
  12. Nice one welshy, love the colour. Looks like you're well on the way too some nice uppers in the future. Yeah mine is doing well the latest uppers this year are a lovely yellow green at the moment but they are still growing so might get a touch of red flecking once fully opened, they are smaller than last year's but that could be that these pitchers were produced in the winter, but didn't start inflating until a month or so ago. It also has a nice flower stalk with a load of flowers to be pollinated once they open. I've managed to source some pollen from x rebecca soper, x Linda, densiflora and should get some hamata pollen later on. I'll update the pics when I get back home tonight. Mark
  13. I think that's a really good price for the plant in question, since I have seen listing for it, as high as a €100. I also seem to remember that the same person was trying to sell a darwin book for £5000 on fleaBay. Mark
  14. Yes its definitely d binata, they do grow pretty slow until bigger. I use dried bloodworms that I have crushed to a fine powder, I then use the top of a moistened tooth pick, dip it in the powder and transfer to the leaf. I find this speeds things up. If you look at www.growsundews.com it will have a lot of tips and tricks. Hope this helps a bit. Best regards Mark
  15. I'm the same can't see the photos Mark
  16. It's heather, a very common weed that pops up all the time in peat. I've got one in a big windowsill trough that has some cephs, drosera and utrics. I keep the Heather trimmed and going to see if I can get it into an interesting shape, kind of bonsai style probably some type of cascade form as it's on the edge of the pot. Mark
  17. From what I can see in the pic they look like binata, when very young plants they don't have the t form shape, they produce a trapping leaf closer to a cresent moon shape, but can't see properly if they are rounded traps at an angle Mark
  18. That's no problem at all, if you pm me your address I'll send one out in a couple of weeks. Oh and regarding splitting your plants I just unpot them, wash of the roots and then split them from there. How that helps Mark
  19. I could send you one in a couple of weeks, I have a few scattered around flat and need to make some space for some more utics in section orchidiodes and heliamphora. Mark
  20. They both look like alicae to me. Here's a pic of a spatulata that I bought from Hampshire carnivorous plants, see in the below pics that the leaves are more spoon shaped Mark
  21. Hi my bill Bailey (female) should be in full flower in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone has anything interesting with pollen to share, 50/50 split on the seeds when ready. Cheers Mark
  22. Yep the first photo is a type of fungus I get it in a couple pots of my pigmy drosera and the white bits coming out the ping are roots. Mark
