Congratulation on your first Nepenthes. My first was also a N. Ventrata and I'm sure many others also started out with this hybrid. If you're not carefully they will soon hypnotise you under their spell forcing you to collect as many different hybrids and species as possible.
The information provided with the plant sounds very accurate although I'm not sure if the light available in your north-facing window will be enough if you want your plant to keep producing pitchers.
As for watering, keep your pot standing on an upturned flower pot and stand this in a shallow tray. When you water your plant, keep watering until the water starts running out of the bottom of the pot and into the tray. With this method it is almost impossible to overwater your plant. The water left in the tray will also increase humidity around your plant. Try to water often, say every two days, unless it gets really hot and then maybe daily. Nepenthes like some air around their roots so the day in between watering should help.
