I'm with everyone else that its an "eye of the beholder" thing. You also have to be careful not to "convince" yourself your seed grown is special just because youve put lots of time and effort into them. Ive grown out a lot of sarracenia seedlings but ive only found a few that were nice enough for me to think "Wow...these are beautiful!" but I'm well aware not all people will think the same thing. For example, here's a seed grown xMoorei. I think its awesome with its thick, waxy pitchers that last all season. I love how the pitchers start out rubricorpora-ish then turn into a dark maroon as they age. It doesnt have a splotch on the throat and I think that would turn some off. Then there is this hybrid that always makes a crooked peristome...a mutant, I guess. I love the bright yellow in contrast with the deep red veing and throat and the wavy, veiny hood just blows me away. Others might not like it as much as I do. Its really all about what you like and the feedback you receive on the plant as Mike said.

Dubious S. 'Adrian Slack' on ebay?
Defalotus replied to linuxman's topic in General Carnivorous Plant Discussion
Ebay probably won't do much since its not %100 sure the seller is a fraud. The seller might actually be selling what he says he is and not having any FB or using other peoples pics to sell his plants doesnt mean theyre fake. Just giving another perspective. -

RED flavas in the wild, NW Florida: the great debate
Defalotus replied to meizwang's topic in Carnivorous Plants in Habitat
You cant. Read Kiwi Earls' thread on atropurpureas. Its really in depth and it talks about exactly what youre asking. 2 and 3 would be considered really dark rubricorporas. Now, this is just from my limited understanding.NM...youve read it lol. Was going to put up a link. I think Earl has did his homework and makes the strongest argument on what makes an atro and atro and what makes a rubri a rubri. -

RED flavas in the wild, NW Florida: the great debate

Another thing...are varieties just "recognized" or "named" phenotypes? -
RED flavas in the wild, NW Florida: the great debate
Defalotus replied to meizwang's topic in Carnivorous Plants in Habitat
So, thats why these sites always produce different looking flavas because any of the different varieties can produce any other variety. That right there is just crazy. So, does this go for all sarrs or just flavas. Can I get a venosa from a purp purp? What about alata nigrapupurea from a typical alata? -
RED flavas in the wild, NW Florida: the great debate

I'm curious about something. Would seeds from any of the varieties at that one site produce ornatas, cupreas and rubricorpora offspring? If so, then why are there any varieties at all? The more I read you guys posts the more I think all flavas are the same with just different color.
